My sis @kerrislravenhill commented on my article the 1936 Canada Silver Dollar featured yesterday:

The 1935 Canadian Voyager Silver Dollar coin is truly legendary. It is the coin that launched a legacy.

The Voyager is the first Canadian silver dollar issued by the Royal Canadian Mint for circulation.

In case you are wondering, in the background are the Northern Lights. These are symbolic of the vastness and wilderness of Canada.

The 25th Anniversary of the Reign of George V commemorative issue started the Canada Silver dollars, which continued on until 1967. After which the RCM switched the dollars to nickels.

George V objected to the anti-Catholic wording of the Accession Declaration that he would be required to make at the opening of his first parliament. He made it known that he would refuse to open parliament unless it was changed. As a result, the Accession Declaration Act 1910 shortened the declaration and removed the most offensive phrases. George V supported dominion autonomy, leading to the Statute of Westminster (1931). The Statute of Westminster 1931 marked a significant step towards the legislative independence of the British Commonwealth Dominions, like Canada, Australia, and others, establishing them as equal in status to Britain and allowing them full control over their domestic and foreign affairs.

George V did not seek grandeur, and without pursuing brilliance, he brought about changes that reshaped the monarchy. My kind of guy!

Such nice coins! I really need to start collecting more Canadian coins, for some reason I just never found that many for a good price in the past. Maybe because I was closer to Mexico and there were more Mexican coins around. Very cool @silversaver888 !

Tee coins of Mexico, Canada, South America (mostly those minted by the US), the Netherlands (if you can find them), and others are of decent silver content, of course, US Constitutional Silver, @thebighigg !

That's really cool. It represents the rich history Canada has with the fur trade and all of that really well.

The 1935 Voyager made quite a splash being practically the first One Dollar silver coin issued for circulation in a time that the 50 cent Dominion of Canada was sufficient for public business but also anticipating a growing need for currency as Canada matures as a developing economy beyond just a collection of colonies into it's own.

As a Collector of Canadian coins, the 1935 is a must have coin that marks Canada's path to independence and as a nation.

More personally, this coin symbolizes my own milestone from a child playing with coins into a serious collector in charge of a family heirloom that will be passed on to future generations.

"Thanks Dad, I will take care of it and see that you and grandpa are remembered."

Always, with !LUV 🤗🌺❤️

I am starting to be addicted to circulated old coins! Downside is that the silver contest is much lower, but cheaper.

Handsome coin! Both US and Canada should still have a circulating silver dollar... of course the entire economy would be very different, including the number of "dollars" it would take for a troy oz! Simple answer... ONE DOLLAR = 24 grams silver. Forever.

The mastery in this piece, which is 90 years old. Is the 1936 more worn out, or the 1935, had more attention to detail?

Keep posting such amazing coins!

The 1936 is marketed as AU (About Uncirculated), but did not mention it. It is much more circulated than AU, I think!
The 1935 is marked BU (Brilliant Uncirculated), but I marked it AU/BU.
The main difference between AU (About Uncirculated) and BU (Brilliant Uncirculated) coins lies in their condition, with AU coins showing some signs of wear while BU coins are in pristine, uncirculated condition.
Thanks for your comment, @alexvan !

Wow, learnt something new today! Did not know the naming with AU BU till now. Yes, the 1935 looks mint, compared to the 1936.

I was sick, I was absent from several posts. Today, i was following your posts and I had a question regarding this coin: what is the difference between it and the 1936 Canada Silver Dollar George V coin?
