Dig Dig Japan, a channel with a unique and relaxed way of learning about Japan [ENG/ESP]
Hello everyone, one of the types of content I consume most often is related to Japanese culture, from customs, music, traditions, gastronomy, and of course, anime and more. While browsing videos and other content a little less than a year ago, I came across a YouTube channel that showcased food experiences and the Japanese environment, but with a unique format that definitely caught my attention. I've been constantly enjoying their videos ever since, so today I'll take the opportunity to share a little bit about this channel called "Dig Ding Japan".
Hola a todos, uno de los contenidos que más suelo consumir es aquel referente a la cultura japonesa, desde costumbres, músicas, tradiciones, gastronomías y, claro, el anime y demás, cosa por la que, recorriendo videos y demás contenidos hace cosa de poco menos de un año, me topé con un canal de YouTube que mostraba experiencias de comida y ese entorno japonés, pero con una particularidad en su formato que sin duda acaparó mi atención y, pues, he estado constantemente disfrutando de sus videos, cosa que, pues, hoy aprovechando, les compartiré un poco sobre este canal llamado "Dig Ding Japan".
Created in July 2023, this channel is dedicated to showcasing Japanese food, curious and fun places, and experiences, all with themes like claw machine videos, instant food, Seven and Leven, and more. But in this case, they use a format that, while not new, I personally find very curious and eye-catching, since we don't see or hear the people behind each piece of content or video; instead, we have background sound when it's an experience in curious places or ambient sound, ASMR-style, so the opinions and descriptions are seen in text as the video progresses.
Creado en julio del año 2023, es un canal dedicado a mostrar comida japonesa, lugares curiosos y divertidos y experiencias, todo con temáticas como los videos de máquinas de ganchos, comida instantánea, Seven y Leven y demás, pero acá en este caso realizan un formato que, si bien no es nuevo, personalmente siento que es muy curioso y llamativo, ya que no vemos o escuchamos a los que están detrás de cada contenido o video; al contrario, tenemos sonido de fondo cuando es experiencia en lugares curiosos o de ambiente, al estilo ASMR, por lo que lo que son opiniones y descripciones las veremos en textos mientras avanza el video.
And it's not that the texts are generic; rather, although simple, they tend to be informative when necessary, with historical details about a place, brand, or product, along with impressions and opinions. It's like being in an interactive chat while watching the video, so for me, it's definitely a great combination. We enjoy seeing a product or experience while reading about my feelings; it makes it more immersive and connects us to the topic of each video, regardless of who's presenting it—which isn't a bad thing, but it actually makes us pay closer attention.
Y no es que los textos sean genéricos, sino que realmente, aunque son sencillos, suelen ser informativos cuando lo necesitan, con detalles históricos de algún lugar, marca o producto, impresiones y opiniones. Es como si estuviéramos en un chat interactivo mientras vemos el video, por lo que sin duda para mí es una muy buena combinación, ya que disfrutamos de ver un producto o experiencia mientras leemos lo que siento; lo hace más inmersivo y nos conecta con el tema de cada video más allá de con quién lo muestra, que no es que sea malo, sino que nos hace incluso detallar más.
These videos are usually very calm, or rather, from my point of view, they tend to convey that Japanese pacifism of doing things calmly. One of my favorite videos, where they visit a ramen and instant noodle factory, even explains the history and blends it with the experiences of the creators as they interact with the step-by-step process of making these products. We calmly listen to the atmosphere, learn, and even see the fun of these processes and the dynamics of exploring these places.
Estos videos suelen ser muy tranquilos o, bueno, desde mi punto de vista, suelen transmitir como ese pacifismo japonés de hacer las cosas con calma. Incluso uno de mis videos favoritos, donde visitan la fábrica de ramen y fideos instantáneos, explica desde la historia y lo mezcla con las experiencias que van viviendo los creadores mientras van interactuando en el paso a paso de la creación de estos productos, por lo que escuchamos tranquilamente el ambiente, aprendemos y hasta vemos lo divertido de estos procesos con respecto a las dinámicas al conocer estos lugares.
You could say this channel offers a glimpse into that peaceful experience of enjoying things from a Japanese perspective and style. Beyond negative opinions, they always provide a positive and relaxed commentary on each piece of content they share, making it enjoyable. And no, it's not that they see everything as positive, but it's simply clear they enjoy creating the content, which I feel adds a lot of value to the channel. I must say, I often enjoy these videos when I simply want to relax without noise or commotion, so it's a lovely way to watch Japanese content.
Podría decirse que este canal brinda un poco sobre esa experiencia pacífica de disfrutar las cosas desde el ambiente y estilo japonés, pues más allá de ver opiniones negativas, siempre dan un comentario positivo y relajado de cada contenido que comparten, por lo que es disfrutable y no, no es que sea un canal que todo lo vea positivo, sino que simplemente se nota mucho que disfrutan hacer el contenido, lo cual siento que añade mucho más valor al canal, y debo decir que suelo estar disfrutando de estos videos cuando simplemente quiero relajarme sin ruidos ni alborotos, por lo que, siendo así, es una forma linda de ver contenido japonés.

A very original channel in terms of content and production. Japanese culture is very interesting because it is so different, but especially in relation to food. I really like the way they present them, without talking, just with the sound of the environment and especially the sound of the packaging of each of the products.
I consume a lot of ASMR because I love especially water and I have also seen many videos with this type of ASMR and this channel does something very original with the products and it is interesting not only what you hear but also to learn what they eat, which often differs too much from our habits. Si te gustan los canales donde se hable de cultura japonesa quizá podría recomendarte un par de ellos que me gusta ver, aunque no soy muy amante de la cultura asiática, pero lo que ha llamado mi atención ha sido por ellos.
Ruthy San Family Blogs: es un canal que muestra la diversidad de una familia bicultural: ella es mexicana y él japonés, y como es el entorno de una familia que vive entre estas dos culturas, en sus vlogs la chica muestra su vida diaria y también el entorno en el que vive.
Necogitablog: También es una familia bicultural, ella es japonesa y él español, pero este formato es más apacible, tienen vlogs pero por lo general se enfoca más a su percepción del entorno y la cultura japonesa como tal. Tienen dos secciones: Japón con jamón que habla de su experiencia personal conviviendo en un entorno japonés y como esto afecta sus vidas, y Japón sin cortes donde muestran el panorama de forma general, por ejemplo, como son las leyes japonesas, como son sus costumbres, refranes, como se manejan en un entorno laboral o como reaccionan ante los extranjeros, etc.
