Survival Mode and Leaderboard Rewards in Splinterlands: A Game-Changer?

Greetings, my lovely Splinterverse friends.

I hope everyone is having a great time in the Splinterlands. Splinterlands just got two huge updates: Leaderboard Rewards have been changed, and Survival Mode will be added after today's updates. The way people fight and the way the game works will all be different because of these changes. As part of the "Splinterlands Community Engagement Challenge," I'm writing this blog post today about what this means for you, especially if you don't have a lot of cards as I do for the upcoming Survival mode battle. I hope the guidelines and these tips will be helpful for relatively new players in making a better deck.

The main changes about the Survival mode will appear with the new era, but it is open with bots and any cards; I think only a few with tons of cards will be able to play this version. But the most important update regarding the league-based leaderboard is going to affect us all with a new way to earn a lot of merits, as it is planned that the top 100 players in every league will be awarded merits after these changes are applied to the game. I love this concept of rewarding more players in every league, which will motivate more players to engage more in gaming activity, and it will open more opportunities for us.

The Survival Mode will be the experience of playing the game with high risk and high reward, so it is better to think before you battle in the survival mode. Survival Mode is a new way to play ranked where you don't have to spend energy to battle, and you can use any card; even bots and fight helpers are permissible. That sounds great, right? The catch is that if you lose a fight with your used cards, they can not be used in any game mode until their cooldown is over. That means you can not use them in any fights, matches, or even land engagements.

  • Cooldowns depend on the foil or rarity of the card, which can take hours to get back legendary cards, and it could take days to get back ordinary cards.

  • No cost for energy that will allow you to play forever, but each loss makes it harder for you to fight in other games.

This mode benefits players who have a lot of cards and punishes players who use risky methods. If you only play sometimes, one bad run could mean you can't use your best cards in other games.

The Leaderboard Rewards will come with more Glint and competition in the existing gameplay. According to this change, prizes are split up by league (Bronze to Champion), and the top 100 players in each league get Glint tokens according to their position, which is a great move for Splinterlands. The prizes get better as you move up in the league as it is in the following table.

So, there will be a grind or fall behind situation in the game that will motivate more engagement in the game. The benefits in higher leagues are huge, but the battle will be very tough. You can get into lower leagues more easily, but they pay less as you can see in the table.

This will make the game economy of the game will be based on cards and glint tokens after these changes are initiated in the game. Survival mode changes the demand for cards in two ways: Cooldowns = More Cards Needed: Players will want extra copies of key cards to avoid being idle. The need for meta cards will grow, and renting prices will go up with card prices in all editions. And number two is the Revival Potions: These will probably become important things to lower cooldowns, which will add another layer to the game economy.

As someone who doesn't have many cards, Survival Mode is scary, just like for me. Also, the bot services will make it difficult to compete. My only good cards could be locked for days if I lost a fight, so I couldn't play other games. It's fun to see how the leaderboards change, but it seems impossible to get to higher leagues without strong cards. My plan is to stay in the silver or gold leagues, where the competition is lower. I would rather rent cheap cards that can be used in many ways for Survival Mode than burn my own collection if I find any profitability in the mode. Earn more glints to grab more rewards cards from rebellion reward card editions to make them max as soon as possible. So, my overall tips will be as these strategies

  • Use High-Rare Cards because their cooldowns are faster. Keep common cards for fights that aren't as important and have many copies.

  • Rent Backup Cards: Have extra cards ready in case your main cards get locked.

  • Avoid "All-In" Strategies: In Survival, don't risk your best cards unless you're sure you can win.

  • Lose Fast, Win Slow: If it's clear that you'll lose a fight, give up early by surrendering to avoid card cooldowns.

  • Always keep an eye on cooldowns to see when your cards become available.

These changes help whales (players who collect a lot) and open up new possibilities. Survival Mode adds stress and strategy, and ranking awards give everyone a reason to grind. It might be best for new players to rent cards and focus on smaller leagues. In conclusion, Survival Mode is tough but exciting, and the prizes at the top of the ranking make it worth it to move up. If you don't have any cards like I do, you can adapt by renting wisely and putting regularity ahead of risky wins.
