Season Review - Record SPS Earnings for me in Splinterlands!
Splinterlands season just ended and the big news this season at least for me is the record SPS earnings! Almost twenty thousand SPS earned in just two weeks. What has caused this jump? Read on for details and here is the chart that shows my all time SPS earnings:
Season Summary
This was a very interesting season, I spent most of it in the Modern Diamond league and when I reached the point where my next win would take me to the Modern Champion, I have decided to stop playing in Modern league and bought the Wild Pass and finished the last few days in Wild.
If you look at the cost of the wild pass it is 2,000 DEC and when converted to SPS it would cost 224 SPS. So I would have to win at least 224 SPS tokens just to break even on the pass, but then there is the opportunity cost of extra SPS that would have been won in the Modern league.
So I ended up earning 317.157 SPS in the Wild league, so I have definitely covered the cost of the Wild pass, but naturally 68 battles in wild would have been about 32 wins in Modern at around 15 SPS plus per win that would have been 480+ SPS. So I would have been better off SPS wise to stay in Modern. The downside would be I would be on the Champion leaderboard where I would be lucky to win 50K Glint vs almost guaranteed 150K Glint for placing on the Diamond leaderboard. So I have decided to forgo the extra SPS and absorb the cost of the Wild pass for the guaranteed extra Glint.

As you can see most of my battles were in Modern, except the last three days in the Wild league. Wild league had a significantly higher win percentage of 72% as competition was weaker for my lower rating at the end of the season. But I did manage to get up all the way to the Champion 2 in Wild.

If we take a look at the table above we will see the big story of this Splinterlands season. Yes, the Survival mode became my largest source of SPS this season! Even bigger than running an SPS Validator node!
Unfortunately it looks like a proposal to switch from SPS to Glint is passing and this will not be possible next season. Once the Survival mode is finetuned the SPS earnings in Survival mode will be back, so stay tuned!

As you can see I did really well in terms of the League reward chests as my last minute decision to switch to Wild league brought me a lot of high end reward chests.

Surprisingly the high end chests didn't result in much in terms of legendary or gold cards, I guess better luck next time...
Closing notes
A very good season for me in terms of SPS and Glint earnings due to the Survival mode bracket five and placing high on the Diamond Modern Leaderboard.
