Origin Of A Battle Mage: From Simple Past Time To Passionate Hobby
Hello there! @saydie here, manually playing Splinterlands everyday!
As a Splinterlands player, I have become quite knowledgeable in the game to the point that I could decently compete in the highest levels of the game. It wasn't that much but I also invest to acquire different assets either by purchasing packs or promo cards as playing the game turns to be a passionate hobby but that wasn't always the case. At first, I only thought about it as a simple past time that I could get over with.
And so, for this week's Community Engagement Challenge, I will share you my beginnings and my #SplinterlandsJourney as well as what future goals that I had as I continue playing the game.
Discovery of Splinterlands
I first discover Splinterlands way back in 2021 in the midst of Covid pandemic. At that time, I don't really have any in-depth knowledge on blockchain games or even crypto but during the pandemic, I as well as many people are stocked in their homes and with so much time in my hands, I spend most of it browsing the internet then I stumbled upon a certain post about Splinterlands on PHCorner which is a Filipino forum for discussing different topics such as the latest trends on technology, gaming and music.
At first I was hesitant but after months of conducting my own research about the game, I finally decided to create my own account and immediately get hooked to the game as someone who play other TGC games such as Yu-Gi-Oh and eventually, bought my first few packs during the Chaos Legion presale.
For many Splinterlands accounts, most did not bother with the creation of their username, particularly for those that has multiple accounts. Same goes for me but while I was creating my account, I was listening to some local music and among them was the band saydie and decided to use it for my username. Months ago, I was able to listen to them live during Rakpublika 2025 and for more details, you can check my Post about it.
My First Treasured Card and Memorable Early Battle
With such a long time passed, I can't be so sure which card did I get first but if there is one card that I really treasured during my early days of playing the game, It will be Djinn Oshannus which is a Legendary mage unit for water element that can be obtained through reward chest and highly synergize with the summoner Alric Stormbringer and Valnamor. It was priced really high that time but even so, I still hold on my Djinn Oshannus and even have it at max level and 3 years since playing, I still have it in my collection.
In terms of my early battle, one of my most memorable match was taking down the Llama- Kron combo which is a very powerful team back when we only have one ranked format. Since we already moved on Tech modernization, I can no longer play the battle with the old link any more but thankfully, I have the battle immortalized in the blockchain through 3speak. It was so old that you can see that my battle rewards was still in DEC.
Future Goals
In the next few weeks, a new set will be introduced to the game and all my cards that belongs to the Chaos Legion set will moved to the wild. I'm sure that I will buy the next set but still not sure on what levels but I do not see it to be less than the number of Rebellion packs that I bought during the sale.
In the meantime, my goal is to complete both my Rebellion soulbound collection so that I can play it no matter what level the next set would be. As of the moment, I have already maxed my common rewards and was 95% on my rares.
On the Hive part, my goal is to have at least 3.5k HP staked into my account before the end of this year by not powering down my hive and use some of my earnings to power up, along with the HP that I get organically on my post. For more details about my Hive goals, you can refer in this Post.
