Splinterlands | Survival Mode, Seasonal Rental and Rental Sets
Hello Splinterlands players!
Recently we have experienced quite a number of changes and updates on Splinterlands in the last couple of weeks. First the minimum price for listing rent has changed to 1 DEC, then the recent DAO proposal that got passed on making card renting seasonal only. Next, the long awaited SPS Node has launched finally and the first phase of SPS validator node has began, and in next 2 weeks, the node will be fully functional and licence holders if actives their licences in modes will be getting rewards after the ongoing testing phase. Not only that, the game has also improved the UI section, especially the whole new card selection UX and also in Opponent seeking and battle Rules screen and I am yet to cope up with the change. Now to add another feather to that exciting list of changes happened in Splinterlands, Survival Mode is launching next week! Beside the SPS node, this particular feature, which is already creating a strong hype in player community, has been in testing phase on the Mavs server for a while. But another update was lurking away from all the chaos and about to awake soon in the game…
Survival Mode Updates
Yess…finally after a long wait, the Survival mode will be released adding another major portion of tokens in its Leaderboard rewards. Instead of the usual DEC payouts that we receive in ranked on in tournaments, players will now receive Glint as rewards and also, the player ranks will be determined at the start of the each season. So, if you are planning to play into Survival Mode, it’s better to look at the rulebook first to manage your cards wisely. I hope you know that if you use the same cards for Ranked, Brawls, or Tournaments, Survival Mode cooldowns can interfere with your deck.
Now, in case you want to avoid this and not ton use your main playing cards in survival mode, you should create yourself a separate set of cards specifically for Survival Mode. Though there is an autofill option available in survival mode, but I think manually selecting your cards is a more cautious way to maintain a sweet balance between survival and your Main play deck. Now, you have to find some decent free time to set things up, cause this process can be lengthy depending upon you analysis and can take several hours, but I think it is worth it if you are among the serious players and want to enjoy this mew playing mode.
No Revival Potion at Launch
Now first of all, an important aspect to note is that there will be no revival potion during the launch of Survival mode and will be added laster via an update. This simply means that you can not bypass cooldowns by a paying option, which will refresh your cards for other game modes. This is the rather the most concerned point with playing Survival Mode, which will require careful planning to ensure you have enough playable cards for both the game modes without being locked out due to cooldowns.
PvE Campaign Mode for New Players
Now, apart from the Survival Mode, Splinterlands is also introducing another new mode called the PvE campaign mode. While it is mainly designed for new players to understand now battle works and how to apply certain strategy on certain rulesets, experienced players may also find it interesting playground to practice their strategies with. Now though the official release date for this PvE mode has not been announced yet, but I think this mode just like the survival mode will be definitely worth keeping a look, especially if you want to enjoy an old game with a unique new way.
No Sets to Rent in Set Rental
As I have have talked about this topic in one of my recent posts, a recent update has introduced the Set Rental feature in splinterlands, a new rental option allowing players to rent entire collections of cards. Now, the importance of this Rental Set upgrade certainly becomes even more useful for this upcoming Survival Mode. As the Rental Set lets you rent additional cards without affecting your main deck to play the Survival mode without any headache. However, as of now, there are no Rebellion sets available for rent in the new rental tab but when I checked the normal Rental market, most of the Rebellion Core and Promo edition cards were available for rent, even at max level. But hopefully, as the Survival mode keeps running, we will see more sets being listed to rent on Set Rentals.
Seasonal Rentals Proposal
There had been a lot of talks around the DAO Proposal #201, which was mainly to change rentals seasonal only instead of daily. Anyway, as I checked today, the proposal has passed with overwhelming support and we may soon see work starting to execute this proposal. The proposal received an whooping 84% approval vote, with over 236.47 million SPS staked votes voting for this change. So call your karts, cause the daily rentals are now about to hey obsolete, which means players who depend on rentals will need to plan their card rentals for an entire season instead of renewing them strategically only during season end, brawls or tournaments.
Last but not least, with all these exciting updates, it seems to be an exciting time to be a Splinterlands player, especially if you are a new plart! The Survival Mode will bring fresh challenges, while new rental and seasonal changes will completely reshape the way players manage their card collections. Anyway, let’s see how one performs in the game after the survival mode launches.
