Splinterlands: Winning because my opponent did not make the most of their mana

Splinterlands is a complex game and it allows for various different cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various different rulesets applied and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I made the most of my mana and number of cards.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Wands Out and Odd Ones Out. This means only magic monsters with an odd mana cost can be used in this fight. There is also 45 mana and I can choose fire, earth, life, or dragon splinter.

Thunderhoof Nomad35thReflection Shield
Mycelic Slipspawn96thTaunt
Total Mana:44

Immortalis is my summoner for its -1 health, void, and shatter. My tank is Regal Peryton up front as it is quite fast. It doesn't have as much health but I do have Mycelic Slipspawn in my last spot with taunt. In my second spot is a blast monster and my third monster is a magic and ranged damage dealer. I also have Spirit Hoarder for triage and dispel to heal up my taunt monster. My 5th monster is reflection shield to negate any blast damage that is done to my taunt monster.

Round 1

round 1.png
At first glance, I think that I have the advantage. I don't know why but my opponent did not use up all his mana available despite having a max-level summoner. My summoner also reduces the damage taken and my triage should heal up most of the damage from his backline monsters. As we are using magic monsters in this fight, I can't miss anything outside of my ranged attack. Even with that, I don't see anyway for my opponent to win this match because of void and taunt.

Round 2

round 2.png
I took minimal damage while my opponent lost over half of his health on that taunt monster. The damage difference is slowly piling up on my opponent and that blast damage is also damaging his triage monster. I don't see my opponent winning this match because of the number of monsters on my side.

conclusion.png
I was able to win the match later that round despite missing my ranged attack.

Conclusion

The battle this time was exactly what I expected. I played a good strategy with void from my summoner and a taunt monster in the back. With triage, I was able to heal that taunt monster and the rest of my lineup was all focused on dealing damage. I don't know why my opponent did not make up the most of the mana given his high level summoner. Even if my opponent had more monsters, I think I would have put up a decent match.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

That Immortalis summoner was a game-changer for sure. Void are brutal against only magic attacks rule.

I saw the game, and it was a very poor lineup from the opponent. I was thinking if that was all the card they actually have, or maybe they ran out of time and submitted less cards, for a max level summoner should be doing better, although the immoratalis can be annoying. That half magic ability just wins the game
