Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Uraeus's Poison is very useful
Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game with interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. This week is about a great fight where I won because of Quora Towershead.
Featured cards
Uraeus is a neutral splinter that costs 3 mana. It starts off with the sneak. As it levels up, it gains the poison ability at level 4. I have this card at level 4, so it has both abilities, and I like using this card due to the low mana cost.
Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Up Close & Personal. This means that only melee monsters can be used. There are 46 mana available and I am left with the choice of any splinter except for earth.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Thaddius Brood | 4 | Summoner | -1 magic and health |
Cursed Windeku | 6 | 1st | Heal and Thorns |
Pallus | 8 | 2nd | Reach |
Harklaw | 8 | 3rd | Shield, Immunity, and Poison |
Uraeus | 3 | 4th | Sneak and Poison |
Disintegrator | 7 | 5th | Demoralize |
Dumacke Orc | 6 | 6th | Shield and Retaliate |
Total Mana: | 42 |
Thaddius Brood is my summoner for its -1 magic and health. Cursed Windeku is my tank with heal and thorns. Pallus is my backup tank with reach. I have Harlaw for the shield, immunity, and demoralize. Uraeus is my 4th monster for its abilities. My 5th monster is another demoralize monster and my last monster is Dumacke Orc with shield and retaliate.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that This match can do either way. I have double demoralize but that bloodlust monster is rough with repair and the shield from the warden. The rest of the monsters aren't too dangerous, but once my monsters start to die, I might have to rely on poison to win this match.
Round 5
A few rounds later, I lost my tank, and it was looking rough. I think I will just continue to lose monsters until I can attack that monster with Uraeus.
Round 13
A long time later, I was finally able to poison that bloodlust monster. With this, I have this match won so long as I can survive long enough. I don't think my opponent can kill me fast enough, but I still have to worry about fatigue.
I won this match a few rounds later due to the poison, but it was a close match. A few more hits, and I would have lost the match.
Conclusion
The battle this time around did not go as I expected, but Uraeus managed to help me win the match. I thought that a double demoralize lineup with thorns and shield monster would be enough. However that bloodlust monster with repair and shield was rough. It took longer than I expected to land poison so the match was closer than I would like.

Poison is an underrated ability, honestly. The opponent's card gained enough bloodlust to actually win, but they poison game to the rescue, what a win.
