Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - New Missions and my First Card Purchases

Greetings to Splinterlands players. In my last post, I mentioned how the Foundation Set is lacking in Death and Light elements. Today, after the maintenance, Splinterlands surprised me with new missions on the Waur Medge campaign. Among the rewards were two strong Death cards, an epic and a legendary.

I used them in games and they're very strong. Here is a sample game with my Death team composed of mostly magic units.

Also among the new rewards was a dual attack legendary card!

Here is another sample game where the Great Bear Druid is perfect partner with Drybone Megalodon. In position 2, the Druid can attack twice with magic and melee.

These are sweet rewards that beginners and free to play players will enjoy and eventually lead them to buy a Spellbook and cards.

My First Card Purchases

I'm enjoying playing the game for fun and not much rewards in Bronze League. After some time, I'm no longer content on playing with Foundation Set so I shopped around for cheap cards that to add to my deck.

New Sskah Drudge

New Sskah Drudge has 2 attacks and only 5 mana. It's somewhat slow but that's not an issue for me. It's only level one but it has a True Strike skill meaning its attacks won't miss. I bought it to add to my Death team before the campaign update for only 23 DEC so I think it's a good buy.

In below battle, Sskah Drudge joins my new Foundation cards Sorrow Harvester and Little Sister. The enemy team is also strong with a combination of Fire and Death cards.

Aria Bandit

I bought the Aria Bandit to add to my White team. It has 2 attacks and 2 skills at level 1. It has Snipe and Dodge skills. I thought that this will be a good addition to my White team which is lacking in good cards. My cost for this card is just 30 DEC.

In this game, Aria attacks from the rear while my melee unit and new legendary card Great Bear Druid attacked in the front line.

Portly Cannoneer

Portly Cannoneer has only one mana but he is more of team player. He adds +1 melee attack to his team mates. My Fire team is mostly melee attackers so he is a good addition since he will buff his team mates with +1 attack. He is my most expensive card that I bought at 56 DEC.

In the below game, the opponent Water team is strong and packed with magic attackers. My team has the advantage in speed and melee attackers buffed by the Portly Cannoneer.

Razorhound

My Water team was already strong. The Razorhound was a new addition to my team that I got from reward chests after season end. He has 2 attacks and buffs his team mates with +1 life.

In the game below, the Razorhound was a welcome addition to the team. He adds +1 life and does 2 attacks from the rear.

In Conclusion

The new foundation cards add fresh depth to the starter sets especially to the Death team. In addition to the new cards I bought, my deck has improved and it's more fun to play now. I'm able to beat strong teams like those in the games above. Now the Death team is my strongest. In next update, I hope the White team which still lack good cards gets upgraded with their own legendary card. The new missions are entertaining and educational especially the last two missions where even experienced players will find challenging.
