Weekly HSBI Giveaway for the Splinterlands Community #16

HSBI Titelbild.png

Happy Monday everyone and welcome to the my weekly HSBI giveaway for the Splinterlands community!

As promised in the last giveaway, this time I would like to briefly report on the new Campaign mode. It's a kind of tutorial and I have to say that the mode really isn't badly done. I've played through it myself and I really enjoyed it. The new Foundation cards that you get by playing the Campaign are certainly very helpful for new players and I'm excited to see what else is coming in the future. The only thing I wonder is why something like this has taken so long. I'm not a programmer, but I think that the development of this Campaign mode should be much faster these days. There was also another piece of news last week, and that is the discussion about whether a “Crypto Gaming Recovery Fund” should be introduced, from which the entire crypto gaming industry should benefit and be networked with each other.

Answers to the last Question:

Last week's question was "How long have you been playing Splinterlands?". This time, 13 people took part and answered the question. Let's have a look at some of your answers.

@nozem01:

I'm playing almost every single day since August 2021, only took pauses in the summer holidays, the grind goes on!

Wow, almost four years is impressive! I also play Splinterlands almost every day, but sometimes it gets too much for me and I take a short break. There's just so much to do in Splinterlands that there's not enough time!

@artofkylin:

I've been playing since Feb 2025, so not very long. BUUUT it's a super fun game and I really enjoy it. It's also a great source of stuff to write about here on hive. :)

This makes you the participant who is the newest part of the Splinterlands community. I'm always happy to hear when new players find Splinterlands and are enthusiastic about it. And you're right, there really is something to report about Splinterlands on Hive, I do that myself.

@beelzael:

For a year in 2021/2022, then around 18months break, and back since 2024 and having more fun than ever. I wish I hadn't done the break though, missing many cards :-D

This is actually a problem that I have heard from several players. During bad phases, I myself have always wondered whether I should continue playing at all. A certain kind of FOMO (fear of missing out) prevented me from pausing/quitting because I wanted to collect all the reward cards. At the moment I'm glad that I've never really paused, but I can understand if others do. Sometimes you just don't feel like it.

@hatdogsensei:

I have been playing the game for more than 4 years

If I've seen it correctly and calculated it correctly, you've played the longest of all the participants. Four years is impressive, even though Splinterlands has been around for seven years. That's when you realize how few players have actually been playing from the beginning and are still playing.

Fürs giveaway (löschen).PNG

I myself have been playing Splinterlands since January 2022, just like @h4rr1s. The way I came to Splinterlands was perhaps a little unusual. I followed a YouTube channel that was primarily about stock market investments. At that time, however, cryptocurrencies were very much in vogue and I had already invested a little in BTC and ETH. This YouTube channel then published a video about which play-2-earn games it plays and that's how I came across Splinterlands. The YouTube channel no longer has anything to do with Splinterlands and was never heavily invested, but without it I would probably never have found Splinterlands. I then also started blogging on Hive quite quickly and realized the advantages of the Hive Blockchain. Although there were always phases where I played less Splinterlands and wrote blogs, I never took a major break and am very happy about it today. I hope it continues like this for a long time to come.

And the Winner is...

It's time to draw the winner of the last giveaway.

awW YEAH WINNER!

To answer the question of the what I think of the campaign mode, I honestly think it's awesome. It's a great introduction to the rules of the game, some tactics and gives some cards that people can start playing with. The cards are not great but I think it's better than starter cards.

I'm also excited to see what the team does with them next as there are quite a few chapters that are coming soon.

Campaign mode is a great starting point for new players and hopefully the start of some really good PVE experience making your way across praetoria to multiple dueling arena and the odd mysterious encounter along the way. Think it’s a very watered down version of what the creative team really wanted to give us with cut scenes etc but a perfect way to introduce the cards to arriving players.

Congrats Kylin!

I think the campaign mode is a massive improvement for the player retention, this game has a steep learning curve, which is good for experienced players for its complexity, but when you're new it can be quite overwhelming and when things aren't explained properly, players might leave

As I wrote in my post about it, I really think it's a great addition for new players - and that's from a perspective that comes with experience. It's just the basics, and they're working on more, but for Novice and Bronze level it should be enough.

The cards are also good for starters. They're definitely not OP, all the contrary, but they can fill in some blanks in strategies. Overall, I'm very happy with it, and hope that new players will be, too.

congratulations @artofkylin,

I love the new campaign mode. It's exactly what I wish was in place when I started the game. Slightly concerned its being exploited by bots but I think the team are on top of it. It does make me revisit the question of letting bots play at all.

I haven't tried it too much because when I did, it was bugged and I haven't given it another go yet. But I think it will be a good way to introduce players to the game.

Campaign mode is a very good way for beginners to learn Splinterlands and get free stuff! I myself have finished Book 1 and eagerly awaiting the next ones.

For just being released as a minimum viable product to start is fantastic just to get it out there ASAP with Chapter 1 so we can get more of the marketing pushes going! Played through it myself to get the foundation cards and check it out, wish we had at least this like 5 years ago haha! 😅 Very excited to see how it evolves as a PvE mode over time!

I particularly liked the new campaign mode, I believe it can add a lot to the game in general, it's a great way to teach players as well as allowing them to already have starting cards for ranked mode.

As a RETURNEE, I think the new Campaign mode in Splinterlands is a fantastic addition. It adds a much-needed layer of lore and storytelling, which really deepens player immersion. The structured progression creates a stronger emotional connection to the game world, and that’s something we've been wanting for a long time.

What stands out most is how the Campaign mode supports onboarding — offering free NFT cards gives new and returning players a low-risk way to explore the mechanics and test if they enjoy the gameplay. It’s not just a smart design move; it shows the developers are thinking about long-term player engagement. Overall, it makes Splinterlands feel more alive and accessible than ever.
