A New Frontier: First Impressions
Ahhhhh do you smell that folks? It's a new frontier, open and ready to be explore with the new foundations set that is free to acquire and only able to be acquired via playing the game as a human being. Incredible. This mode is exactly something that the game has needed for a long time, a f2p game model that rewards the player in a meaningful way that impacts the gameplay experience and garners a competitive mindset within the mode and allows goals to grind for (all via the new "foundations" set awarded in the tutorial and via frontier mode). It will be a grind but that's ok, it is a genuinely free to play mode where doing the tutorial gives you the building blocks to start from. And I will actually be streaming "Zero to hero" in this mode and "Survival" on twitch. Actively and not just drop farming, we will actually play the matches. It will be a lot of fun too, I'm the most excited I've been about Splinterlands in ages. I have played these modes some already and have a bit of an insight on what I think is the best way to get started and what I enjoy about it.
The Rewards? Satisfying and accessible
The new reward model is a lot more fun, less linear, and accessible to the entire playerbase to have a potentially even playing field in this mode. Outstanding, truly. You get a base set of foundations cards in the tutorial and are rewarded them in chests from playing in the mode. All these cards can be achieved in these packs or purchased on the market if you so choose, but you can actually reasonably acquire this whole collection of cards via actually playing the game (This is available through glints aswell but it's hard to get anywhere in modern or wild if you are actually starting from scratch and now you can). This is the sort of mode and implementation of rewarding gamification I've been waiting for. You can actually play from zero and build your way up, without putting any money into splinterlands beyond the initial fee for the spellbook and wallet (which isn't very much considering it also comes with resource credits etc.). This is the way Splinterlands USED TO BE back when I started. Ideally I will be giving people spellbooks coming up, should be a lot of fun.
Talking Tidbits: Streaming?
I'm probably going to stream this on occasion going forward, especially if the stream drops continue full steam like this. I'll definitely be trying to put in some hours actually playing the game and trying to "zero to hero" foundations. It is going to be a wild ride but I'm strapped in and ready to go. See you on the battlefield battlemages LIVE from the Splinterlands. It's been quite some time but you have brought me back into the fold. I regrettable wasn't informed the stream drops whitelist entails not "RavenQuesting it" and drop farming while away or afk (I actually couldn't be there and still wanted everyone to get the drop). Froom now on it's only actively climbing the ladder you will see while drops are received, and this is honestly the way it should be. You don't want to give off the wrong impression. This is a great step for splinterlands and lends authenticity to the title having drops on twitch. Folks will watch and go "what is that, how do I actually play? what's going on her?". It's a great implementation of gamifying your game and I love it! I'll see you folks on the battlefield. Thanks for reading, viewing, liking and whatever else you did to this post you dirty dogs. One person who comments on this post will get 1 SBI unit, I usually pick based on engagement and if it seems like you actually read it. Cheers, I'll catch you folks out in our new frontier!
Agreed, I'm also a fan of frontier mode. The anticipation of opening the daily rewards reminds me of when I first started playing.
