Splinterlands | The Underrated Silvershield Sheriff

The topic this week of the Community Engagement Challenge in Splinterlands is underrated cards on which I came up with the Silvershield Sheriff...

The Underrated Factors

When asking what card is underrated, I mainly look at the price compared to the circulating supply. So I mainly rule out all the Chaos Legion Cards which are crazy overprinted even though for what you get they offer most value in Wild and Survival. So I mainly looked at the older Untamed and Beta Cards which are available at MAX Level (which has become the norm now in Wild & Survival)

Looking at the first columns of the MAX Level Market Prices, there is one that stands out for me which is the Silverheidl Sheriff at 13.60$ as it has good stats and some really good abilities!

The Silvershield Sheriff!

This is one of the Untamed Reward Cards which got a great synergy after the Legendary Grandmaster Rathe cards was released for Chaos Legion. It's a card for higher mana battles which there are plenty of these days and an excellent choice for the backline. It has good health allowing it to survive against multiple Sneak attacks, it has ok speed and great Attack with Piercing and Snipe so there is a chance for it to kill a monster of an opponent in 1 hit. The main quality however of this card is the Protect Ability which gives all other monsters +2 Armor. Especially with Grandmaster Rathe, all this armor becomes void armor protecting the health against Magic attack.

On the market right now, a Max Level Copy is available for 13.60$ which is cheap or expensive depending on the way you look at it. Given that 115 single cards are needed to get it to Max level comparing that to what it takes to reach this at 4$ pack prices it's super cheap. Looking at the actual extra returns someone can get just by getting a couple extra wins, it is too expensive based on the current SPS price. However, 100k Single Copies were printed which means there is a maximum of 869 Max Level copies.

It's hard to get the exact data on how many cards there are right now of each level, but 1865 of them already were burned and I assume not all of those were just level 1 Cards.

Silvershield Sheriff Battle & Strategy!

I used it last in a Survival Mode Ballte against another MAx Level Deck where it helped to keep all my monsters alive. My opponent had just over 1 Million Collection Power which is a point where I'm willing to go for it despite knowing I would likely be up against another Max Level Deck. However, the extra options that I have from owning some of the older cards tends to give me the 'pay2win-edge'.

With a strong opponent and no special game rules, I avoided putting my best deck at risk and instead went for a Grandmaster Rathe deck with the Uriel The Purifier as my main tank which I hoped to keep alive with the extra armor from the Silvershield Sheriff, the Tank Heal from the Venari Chrystalsmith, the Tripple Attack Reduction from the Warrior of Piece and the repair or the Aves Sturgis. Since the summoner gives Amplify, I opted the the Lord Arianthus in 2nd place which also got weapon trailed along with the Warrior of Piece.

Since the opponent used double weapon training, the attack reduction abilities really were extra useful.

I managed to keep all my cards alive winning the match while the Silvershield Sheriff was not a vital part of the strategy this time around.

Conclusion!

As A Long-term Splinterlands Player who mainly focuses on Wild and Survival, the Silvershield Sheriff which currently is sold at 13.60$ feels like an underrated card that can be picked up at an affordable price. It especially works well in combination with the Grandmaster Rathe Summoner.

I'm kind of stuck in the past as all the news power creep cards are just too expensive.

True, I rarely get in spots where I want to play Sloan as the best possible option though.
