En un mundo que se mueve a la velocidad de un clic y donde el éxito suele medirse por el saldo bancario, parece que la sabiduría es ahora un lujo antiguo o, sencillamente algo inútil.

Pero, la sabiduría no se trata de saber mucho, con simple parábolas o reflexiones que vienen de antaño, sino más bien, se trata de saber vivir.

La sabiduría desarrollada por los medios que sean (la experiencia, es el medio más poderoso), nos da las herramienta apropiadas para vivir de una forma más acorde a nuestros deseos más intensos. Como tener una vida tranquila, o vivir viajando, o tener mucho dinero.

Es básicamente el sistema inmunológico de la mente, ante las situaciones exasperantes, difíciles o inesperadas que nos permite mantenernos con un pensamiento claro, sosegado y resolutivo (sin muchas parafernalias).

Nos permite ampliar nuestra capacidad de discernimiento: lo que controlamos y lo que no, por ejemplo. De las experiencias de otros (leídas o escuchadas), mejoramos nuestra perspectiva sobre las situaciones, aprendiendo a salirnos de "nuestros zapatos" y de nuestra limitada forma de pensar y permitiendo así poder considerar otras opciones, respuestas o acciones ante un mismo evento.

La sabiduría es, en definitiva, el director de orquesta, donde cada uno de los músicos de una sinfonía(por muy valiosos que sean), necesitan ser guiados correctamente para llevarnos a la composición de "una mejor vida", acorde a nuestros deseos e intereses.

Y pensando todo eso, y reflexionando al respecto, tomé la decisión de comprometerme conmigo mismo a hacerme cada día más sabio a través de la lectura de alguna historia o reflexión antigua, que me permitiera nutrirme cada vez más. Porque, considero que estamos compuesto por grandes músicos (conocimientos y herramientas), que pueden llevarnos a una mejor vida, sin embargo entendí que necesitamos un mejor director de orquesta para guiarlos correctamente.

Y que mejor forma de empezar esto, que con esta reflexión:

Un día, un joven guerrero llegó a un pueblo de la antigua Persia donde vivía un anciano sufí muy sabio.

El joven había partido en busca de sabiduría y le habían recomendado ir con el sufí, y cuando llegó a su puerta:

Quiero ser tan sabio como tú. - le dijo - Enséñeme el secreto.

El anciano lo miró detenidamente, y le dijo: - Acompáñame - sin agregar nada más.

Llegaron al pozo que estaba detrás de su casa, se lo mostró, le dio un balde y le pidió: - Recoge agua de ese pozo.

El joven lo hizo, pero cuando el balde recién tocó el agua, el anciano lo agarró por la cabeza, lo sumergió en el pozo y lo sostuvo allí.

Empezó a desesperarse. Pataleo. Luchó e intentó salir del agua, pero no pudo. Cuando estaba a punto de perder el aliento, el anciano se detuvo y lo soltó.

¿Qué deseabas más en ese momento? - le preguntó el sufí.

Vivir - le respondió el joven, muy furioso.

Pues, cuando desees la sabiduría con la misma intensidad que vivir, al tendrás.

Y el maestro se fue caminando, sin decir nada más.

Al rato, llegó la policía porque el joven lo denunció por intento de..... NO MENTIRA XD

En este punto, te daría mi reflexión al respecto y quedaría muy bien cerrada la idea de este post, y por un momento pensé en hacerlo, pero decidí otra cosa:

Esta fue la historia con la que comencé mi camino hacia hacerme más sabio cada día, y me gustaría que si TU que ya llegaste hasta este punto, me sigas acompañando en este camino y lo reflexiones igualmente.

Mi deseo no es imponer mi pensamiento y colonizar tu mente con mi pensamiento al respecto -como diría Jiddu Krihnamurti- , sino que tu mismo puedas meditarlo y tener tu propia respuesta sobre lo que querrá decir esta historia.

De hecho, si te animas a compartir dicha reflexión en los comentarios, te lo agradeceré mucho, pues me nutrirás con tu idea al respecto, pero si no lo quieres hacer, igualmente te lo agradeceré, porque significa que también permitirás que yo lo piense por mi mismo.

Solo si te pido una cosa:

In a world that moves at the speed of a click and where success is often measured by the bank balance, it seems that wisdom is now an ancient luxury or simply something useless.

But wisdom is not about knowing a lot, with simple parables or reflections that come from long ago, but rather, it is about knowing how to live.

Wisdom developed by whatever means (experience is the most powerful one), gives us the appropriate tools to live in a way more aligned with our deepest desires. Such as having a peaceful life, or living while traveling, or having a lot of money.

It is basically the immune system of the mind, in the face of exasperating, difficult, or unexpected situations that allow us to remain with clear, calm, and solution-oriented thinking (without too much fuss).

It allows us to expand our capacity for discernment: what we control and what we do not, for example. From the experiences of others (read or heard), we improve our perspective on situations, learning to step out of "our shoes" and our limited way of thinking and thus allowing ourselves to consider other options, responses, or actions in the face of the same event.

Wisdom is, ultimately, the conductor of the orchestra, where each of the musicians of a symphony(no matter how valuable they are), need to be properly guided to lead us to the composition of "a better life", aligned with our desires and interests.

And thinking about all of this, and reflecting on it, I made the decision to commit myself to becoming wiser each day through reading some ancient story or reflection, that would allow me to nourish myself more and more. Because, I believe that we are composed of great musicians (knowledge and tools), that can lead us to a better life, however I understood that we need a better conductor to guide them properly.

And what better way to start this, than with this reflection:

One day, a young warrior arrived at a village in ancient Persia where a very wise Sufi elder lived.

The young man had set out in search of wisdom and they had recommended he go to the Sufi, and when he arrived at his door:

I want to be as wise as you. - he said - Teach me the secret.

The elder looked at him carefully, and said: - Come with me - without adding anything more.

They arrived at the well that was behind his house, he showed it to him, gave him a bucket and asked him: - Draw water from that well.

The young man did so, but when the bucket had just touched the water, the elder grabbed him by the head, submerged him in the well and held him there.

He began to panic. He thrashed. He struggled and tried to get out of the water, but he could not. When he was about to lose his breath, the elder stopped and released him.

What did you desire most at that moment? - the Sufi asked him.

To live - the young man replied, very angry.

Well then, when you desire wisdom with the same intensity as living, you will have it.

And the master walked away, without saying anything more.

A little while later, the police arrived because the young man reported him for attempted..... JUST KIDDING XD

At this point, I would give you my reflection on it and it would close the idea of this post very nicely, and for a moment I thought about doing it, but I decided something else:

This was the story with which I began my path toward becoming wiser each day, and I would like that if YOU who have already made it this far, would continue accompanying me on this path and reflect on it as well.

My desire is not to impose my thinking and colonize your mind with my view on it -as Jiddu Krihnamurti would say- , but rather that you yourself may meditate on it and have your own answer about what this story may be trying to say.
