Hoy les muestro un gatito - perrito pintado al frío en cerámica, el término "al frío" se refiere a que una vez pintado el biscocho de cerámica no va a pasar nuevamente por el horno para que quede brillante, sin embargo podemos usar algunos productos que puede darnos la apariencia de brillante y proteger la pieza del polvo y el agua.
Voy a mostrar mi paso a paso y dando recomendaciones para que tus proyectos queden mejor que el mío.
Esta pieza es muy pequeña y noté la dificultad que tengo para darle detalles a las cosas pequeñas, sin embargo puedo decir que disfruté mucho de la actividad y a pesar de los contratiempos me gustó el resultado.
Me gusta más pintar la cerámica "al frío" porque puedes aplicarles muchas técnicas que con enviarlas al horno no quedan bien.
Te cuento en mi paso a paso.

Today I'm showing you a kitten-puppy painted on cold ceramic. The term "cold" refers to the fact that once the ceramic biscuit is painted, it will not go back into the kiln to be glazed. However, we can use some products that can give it a glossy appearance and protect the piece from dust and water.
I'll show you my step-by-step process and give you recommendations so that your projects turn out better than mine.
This piece is very small, and I noticed how difficult it is for me to add details to small things. However, I can say that I really enjoyed the activity, and despite the setbacks, I liked the result.
I prefer to paint ceramics "cold" because you can apply many techniques that don't work well when you send them to the kiln.
I'll tell you about it in my step-by-step guide.

Paso a paso / Step by Step

Como mi pieza es muy pequeña usé una lima de uñas para lijar la pieza y quitarle imperfecciones.
Prepara la pintura, es bueno batirla antes de abrirla y es bueno que cuando las guardes es recomendable ponerlas con la tapa hacia abajo, de esta manera no le entra aire y no se secan tan rápido el tiempo que no las usarás.
Yo estoy empezando con pinturas que ya tenía en casa, son pinturas chinas de muy mala calidad, trata de usar pinturas de buena calidad, notarás la diferencia en la calidad de tu trabajo. las pinturas de mala calidad dejan vetas, son medio aceitosas, no se diluyen fácilmente con agua y no cubren la pieza en su totalidad.
Esta pieza es fácil confundirla con un gatito o un perrito de pende de cómo lo veas o lo pintes, yo comencé por darle la primera capa de fondo que es el color blanco.
Apliqué dos capas esperando que secaran una entre otra.

Since my piece is very small, I used a nail file to sand it down and remove any imperfections.
Prepare the paint. It's a good idea to stir it before opening it, and when you store it, it's best to put the lid on upside down so that air can't get in and it won't dry out so quickly when you're not using it.
I am starting with paints that I already had at home. They are Chinese paints of very poor quality. Try to use good quality paints; you will notice the difference in the quality of your work. Poor quality paints leave streaks, are somewhat oily, do not dilute easily with water, and do not cover the piece completely.
This piece can easily be mistaken for a kitten or a puppy, depending on how you see it or paint it. I started by applying the first coat of white background color.
I applied two coats, waiting for each one to dry before applying the next.

Agrego unos detalles de manchas con el color marrón, intercalo entre pincel doble cero y el pincel numero 4. Dejo secar.

I add some brown spots, alternating between a double zero brush and a number 4 brush. I let it dry.

Cuando vas a dar detalles es cuando notarás la calidad de la pintura.
Aplica brochazos de pintura al seco con el color marrón, toma un poco de pintura con el pincel y luego seca un poco el exceso de pintura del pincel con el paño y luego pasa el pincel por la pieza, repitiendo este proceso las veces que sea necesario.
Por muy buenos que sean tus pinceles, si la pintura es de mala calidad pues es de mala calidad, no hay medias tintas aquí según mi experiencia.
Realizar los ojos a esta pieza con la pintura negra fue una odisea porque la pintura es aceitosa 8cosa que no debería ser a menos que sea un envejecedor) Pero bueno, así son las pinturas chinas. No sé cómo está la calidad de las pinturas Orocolor y Cantek eran lo mejor de lo mejor en mis tiempos, aun existen, solo que son algo costosas en mi país, pero vale la pena, son duraderas y dejan buenos acabados.
Como pude realicé los ojos. En clase la profesora nos decía que para elaborar los detalles de los ojos: en los animales no se les hace pestañas (cosa que yo no cumplo) y la pintura hay que diluirla un poquito con agua para que no sea tan espesa y puedas tener mejor movimiento con el pincel en la pieza. las pupilas se hacen con "el culito" (La parte final redonda) del pincel.
Los mejores pinceles para hacer ojos y pestañas son los pinceles 0 y 00, si encuentras uno de cerdas largas mucho mejor... Yo todavía lo sigo buscando, años que no veo uno.
Luego de todos estos detalles... Hay que dejar secar.

When you start adding details, you will notice the quality of the paint.
Apply dry brushstrokes with the brown paint, take a little paint with the brush, then dry the excess paint from the brush with the cloth and then brush it over the piece, repeating this process as many times as necessary.
No matter how good your brushes are, if the paint is poor quality, it's poor quality. In my experience, there are no half measures here.
Painting the eyes on this piece with black paint was an odyssey because the paint is oily (which it shouldn't be unless it's an aging agent). But hey, that's how Chinese paints are. I don't know how good the quality of Orocolor and Cantek paints is. They were the best of the best in my day, and they still exist, but they are a bit expensive in my country. However, they are worth it because they are durable and give a good finish.
I did the eyes as best I could. In class, the teacher told us that to create the details of the eyes: animals don't have eyelashes (which I don't follow) and the paint should be diluted a little with water so that it's not so thick and you can move the brush around better on the piece. The pupils are made with the "butt" (the round end) of the brush.
The best brushes for doing eyes and eyelashes are brushes 0 and 00. If you can find one with long bristles, even better... I'm still looking for one; I haven't seen one in years.
After all these details... You have to let it dry.
Step 4️⃣/ paso 4️⃣

Aplica barniz a la pieza, poco a poco y tratando de no excederse en la capa de barniz para que no se manche la pieza.
aplica por secciones y deja secar para que puedas sostener la pieza bien.
Deja secar la pieza completamente y lava tu pincel con algún diluyente si usaste barniz.
El trabajo quedó terminado, fue un placer compartir mis conocimientos con ustedes, espero les guste mi proyecto de hoy.

Apply varnish to the piece, little by little, trying not to apply too much so that the piece does not get stained.
Apply in sections and let dry so that you can hold the piece properly.
Let the piece dry completely and wash your brush with some thinner if you used varnish.

It's absolutely true, when the pieces are very small it's harder to paint the details, such as the eyes, for example. But yours still looks excellent. I see a cute little kitten, probably because I love cats and I had an orange kitten like that, her name was Lissa.
As for the paints, it's the same as with oil paints. The first ones I had were Chinese, and they're difficult to mix together and also have a sandier texture. As you said, it's better to use good quality paint, because no matter what brush we use, if the paint is poor quality, you'll notice the difference. The varnish gives it that shine you were looking for, and you don't need an oven. It reminded me of times gone by when I used to do crafts with clay without an oven, and it looked spectacular.

Esta marca de pintura no es arenosa es como un aceite, es malisima de verdadno la recomiendo. En cuanto pueda ire comprando las que deben ser.
Tengo entendido que para piezas que van al horno, es como que otro tipo de pintura, para ese si no hice curso, pero se que es diferente.
Si, tuve una alumna que iba a clases y aprendía de esas cosas y compraba una pintura especial, la verdad quedaba hermoso, pintaba platos y decoraciones para la pared. Me acordaba de vos el otro día, mi madre me dice, me pintarías las esquinas de un espejo que quiero decorar? Eso lo podés publicar? jajaja le digo.. si! Y sé donde!😁

Epaleee! Una linda gatita. Creo que, por la fisonomía es gatita porque tiene orejas puntiagudas y cara ancha. Por lo general los perritos son de cara mas delgada y orejas redondeadas. Quedó linda.
Me hiciste recordar la marca de pinturas Fusion que eran un poco aceitosas pero eran muy buenas y eran mis favoritas. Usé más Cantek, me gustaba más que Orocolor. No recuerdo la marca que usaste. También había una marca que era demasiado aguada o clara, esa no me gustaba para nada. Actualmente, considero que la marca OSI me parece buena.
Nunca me llamó la atención pintar cerámica, al igual que trabajar masa flexible. Lo único que hice en masa fue el busto de las africanas que medían como un metro 😹.
