I Made A Handy and Multipurpose Crochet Bandana.

Hello lovely people of the #needleworkmonday community. It is yet another Monday and a day to share our amazing needleworks. For this week, I made something special; a bandana.

Edited on canva

I have loved bandanas for as long as I can remember. We can all agree that bandanas can be used for numerous purposes. During my highschool days, there were two things I never failed to carry around; my wrist watch and a bandana. The wrist watch helped me to be very time conscious and the bandana on the other hand saved me a lot of time.

I usually folded my multicoloured bandana neatly and pinned it to my deep blue school skirt. Apart from the fact that the bandana gave me an outstanding look, it also came in handy especially whenever I needed something to cover my hair with during school prayers.

I use bandanas mostly as a head scarf. It's always easier to throw a bandana over your head, tie the ends and be on your merry way especially on bad hair days.

They can be used as masks too. Those who have seen a few assassin movies would notice that most of these assassins tie scarves on their faces to conceal their identity.

The list goes on.

Without further ado, let me take you through the process of making this lovely piece of accessory.

The beginning

I started by making a magic ring and with the magic ring, I began my granny triangle.

With a cluster(three double crochet) in each successive Stitch, I made fourteen rows. The rows are very dynamic and you could either increase or decrease the number of rows you make according to your taste.

The bumpy edge with picot stitch

After making my desired length of rows, I went ahead to give the edges a bumpy look by making a picot stitch all around it. The picot stitch gives the edges a bumpy look. If you decide to make this bandana and you're okay with how your edges look after you're done making your rows, you could leave it that way and avoid adding the picot stitches.

At the end of the row, I proceeded to make my strap. I didn't want my strap to be so long and so I made it with just fifty chains. The stitch used on the strap was a single crochet stitch.

The single crochet to the other end

After making one strap, I did a single crochet through all the stitches at the top of the bandana in order to get to the other end. At the other end, I made the second strap.

The final thing to do is to sew in all loose ends with your yarn needle. I didn't have many loose ends as I worked over some loose ends in the process.

With that, I was done with the bandana. I really liked the red colour as it is a bold and outstanding colour. As I didn't have any model for today, I had to use a dummy head for my pictures. What do you think of the bandana? I'd love to hear your views on it.

Do not forget to have a splendid Monday🤠

All images used above are mine and were captured with my mobile device except stated otherwise.

I’ve never thought to crochet a bandana

It's amusing how we never think to make the little things that can be multipurpose😅. If you ever make a bandanna, I'd totally love to see it😊

I really love that color

I'm glad you love it. Thank you so much❣️

That is a very nice bandana! My grandmother taught me how to crochet as a child. But I have lost that skill for lack of use...

It happens. I believe if you eventually wipe the dust off your crochet hooks, you'd perform beautifully.

I've never thought of crocheting a bandana, one thing about crocheting is that it looks pretty easy until you start😆.
This is very lovely❤
