Mi cuñado que trabaja con panadería necesitaba un delantal, así que aproveché la oportunidad de sorprenderlo con un delantal hecho por mí.

Comencé viendo las telas que tenía disponible, por lo que desarmé la caja de las telas, también con intención de sacar lo que no es necesario y encontré que todo es necesario.

Mis ayudantes también aprobaron las telas.

Cómo lo que más tenía era pantalones jean que ya no tienen uso, elegí la tela más dura y resistente para hacer la parte que necesita más resistencia. La parte de abajo.

Uní las piezas cosiendo primero la unión y luego reforzando con una linea recta.

Para la parte de arriba utilicé otro pantalón, por lo que el color es diferente, la tela también es resistente por lo que la elegí por eso. Uní de la misma manera con dos tipos de costuras para reforzarlo.

Uní las piezas de arriba y abajo y así fue agarrando forma. Medí un delantal viejo que tenía mi cuñado y lo corté según las medidas que ya tenía.

Para reformar los bordes, elegí una tela de pana vinotinto que tenía ahí, también completa y fui haciendo el borde, primero la pegué con una costura y luego fui haciéndole el borde presentable. No tengo hilo de ese color, así que usé negro.

Las tiras, también las hice con la misma tela, sin embargo usé doble costura para reforzar.

Hice los huecos con una tijera, le cosi los bordes para que no se rompieran tan rápido, sin embargo veo que no va a durar mucho jeje.

Así quedó y lo mejor fue la sonrisa de mi cuñado (y lágrimas) cuando lo vió y se dió cuenta que lo hice a mano.

No seré la mejor costurera o más delicada, sin embargo, me gustó el resultado y la alegría de darle algo significativo.

Making an apron by hand

My brother-in-law, who works in a bakery, needed an apron, so I took the opportunity to surprise him with one I made.

I started by looking at the fabrics I had available, so I disassembled the fabric box, also intending to remove what wasn't needed, and I found that everything was necessary.

My helpers also approved the fabrics.

Since I had the most jeans I had that I no longer used, I chose the toughest and most durable fabric to make the part that needed the most strength: the bottom.

I joined the pieces by first sewing the seam and then reinforcing it with a straight stitch.

For the top, I used another pair of pants, so the color is different; the fabric is also durable, which is why I chose it for that reason. I joined it the same way, using two types of stitching to reinforce it.

I joined the top and bottom pieces, and that's how it took shape. I measured an old apron my brother-in-law had and cut it according to the measurements I already had.

To redo the edges, I chose some burgundy corduroy fabric I had there, also complete, and I made the border. First, I tacked it down with a seam and then made the edge presentable. I don't have thread in that color, so I used black.

I also made the strips with the same fabric, but I used double stitching to reinforce them.

I made the holes with scissors and sewed the edges so they wouldn't tear too quickly. However, I can see it won't last long, hehe.

This is how it turned out, and the best part was my brother-in-law's smile (and tears) when he saw it and realized I did it by hand.

I may not be the best or most delicate seamstress, but I loved the result and the joy of giving him something meaningful.
