NeedleWorkMonday: Supporting Fellow Crochetist

Hello everybody,

Merry Christmas!

After we visited the Crocheted Christmas Tree in Mandaue City, we went to Guadalupe area and met my fellow male crochetist, Jumar Labitad Salas. He crocheted Rugs using Tshirt yarns or Tarn.

I ordered from him four rugs.

And, two pcs of blue color...

I ordered to him online thinking to make bags out of this rug but upon receiving the items ho my they were quiet heavy and big big round! I just want to support his business. I appreciate him for his perseverance in crocheting tarn because I have tried crocheting this kind of materials was not easy my fingers or hands sore.

I took this chance to interview him, he crocheted or started his business 6 yrs ago because he can't find a job so better to stay at home and be busy. He crocheted rugs and sell it in Colon St or just at the side walk.

One time a chinese business man noticed his works and ordered pot holders and sold it at the Malls

At least it was a sure buyer.

With his industriousness lead him a job even just at home, through Crochet. Awesome! Way to go, Jumar! A good example for jobless men.

Thanks for dropping by...

Hello friend. Merry Christmas 🎄
I love to see this kind of posts. I immediately remembered an aunt who also makes raggedy rag with old cotton flannels.
Those rugs your friend knits are so cute.
My mom also weaves them and has them all over the house hahaha.
A hug 🤗 from afar. Greetings.

So nice of you to support and promote his business. These are really nice rugs…I especially love the Hello Kitty ones. I’ve used t-shirt yarn but it was cut from my old shirts. The yarns I worked with were much thinner and easier to manipulate. The yarns you showed us here are a lot thicker and heavier, I can imagine the difficulty with your hands trying to crochet with them.

Yes truth thicker tarn very hard to crochet and the pen type in handling the hook can make once fingers sore you must use the knife type to go with the flow.

Hello @jurich60, what a nice gesture to support your friend in his crochet work, I hope that in the near future he can get new clients and expand his weaving business, the rugs are beautiful, I liked the Hello Kitty one, tender and delicate.

Merry christmas!
