Focus Challenge// First to many more
Hello creatives
I think it's high time I try my hands on the trending challenge in the #needleworkmonday community as I have mostly been more focused on sewing but never on arrangement and photography, so far, I have learned how you could make a very beautiful dress but not focusing on bringing out my job the best way possible in picture format might not bring the audience I desire to have. So here I am trying my hands the first time trying to pay attention to my picture details, though it might not come out as perfect as I wish for it to as I don't have many props to use at home but still I won't relent.
For my background, I chose the flowery fabric instead of placing the fabric directly on the floor, at least there is much difference, the background design seemed like it's raining flowers, I didn't have much of a choice, it's better to start from somewhere than not start at all. To enhance the dress further, I placed a white beaded hair band at the top right corner, which gives the impression that this dress can be rocked with the headband, I think putting accessory details gives more life to the dress, it could be pieces of jewelry or a pair of matching shoes.
Before taking the pictures, I made sure to open the windows and door to allow natural light enter the room, I also made sure they were taken when the day was bright and clear, as we've mostly been having rainy days here.
I don't have the best of camera, so I settled for my phone camera, it might not give the professional look, so I made sure to adjust the display and editing settings and try and be more focused which gave me the first picture on this post, as this is the most trying challenge I faced taking these pictures, I almost gave up at some point, but thought, if I don't try and get criticized, how will I get better?
Furthermore, I didn't just place the dress flat on the background surface, I made it have a bit of contour at the waist area making it look more appealing to the eyes.
Due to the limited amount of fabric I had available, I decided to sew the puffy sleeves for this dress at the last minute. I'm delighted they did the dress justice and turned out as perfectly as I had hoped.
I used to feel bad when the dresses I make doesn't fit my mannequin so I can take a proper picture of the dress, but today that worry is gone, thanks to the #focusyourneedlework challenge I can think of other ways to display the dresses I make, even better than when placed on a mannequin. This is just the first trial, I hope I get better in the subsequent time to come.
Please note, all images used in this post are mine
This is so beautiful is, well done, I think I should jump on this challenge too.
Thanks Amie, yea, even though it's late, I just moved past my fears to try it too.
Kudos to you @glorydee!! I’m so glad you got over your doubts and fears and just went for this.
You truly understand the whole point and goal of this challenge. Let me tell you, using that beautiful fabric background already made a big difference. I immediately got the impression that your dress was dancing in a field of flowers. 😃😍
This is what it’s all about…using what you have in the best way possible to upgrade your project photography.
When I first started here on Hive I only had my cell phone as well. I can literally look back and see my growth stages. I, just like you, decided to give it a try and use things the best way I could. Eventually I was blessed with a professional camera and I took into account everything I learned along the way to continue improving on my skill.
This is such a pretty dress. I’m really loving these puff sleeves I keep seeing. As you go along you’ll think of more creative ways to showcase your work. I can already see that you’re making this one of your personal fun goals. 😉
Thanks so much for taking on this challenge ~
Thanks @crosheille I just decided it's best to get constructive criticism and become better than not try at all.
Aww, so much just switching the background can do to upgrade a photography.
Thanks you very much for the words of encouragement, now I feel more encouraged to try out out more to become better, personal fun goals you say, you are very correct😁, it's actually fun to do.
You’re every welcome! Glad to hear it!! 😉
