Cutting and sewing processing kaftan dress for my mummy friend
Hello hive
Beautiful morning to all my needlework creative hope you have a great night rest and I know and am sure today is going to blessed for us as we begin on our activities today.
I'll be sharing with you how I make this beautiful kaftan bubu for mummy friend this was the first dress I make for her then after that, she has been bringing her clothes for me too sew.
I make use of two different fabric to achieve this kaftan bubu style, African print mix with lace when do you want to try use you can make use of either mikado dry lace fabric or satin.
I measured 20inches from the lace i cut and put it aside for the front design.
Cutting and sewing processing
The Ankara fabric has neatly folded into four then from the starting line I input the shoulder measurement divided by 2 + half for sleeves joining. I take neck width of 3inches depth of 3inches of the back depth of 1inches then I connect the neck lines from the shoulder slope I go down by 1inches for the arm depth I measured 9inches for the armhole rule a straight line down and get the midpoint of the armhole, I came in by half inches of the front then I connect for the front and back after that I input the bust wasit hip measurement with addition of 4inches allowance for easy and seam and from
the shoulder line I take the full length of the dress then I connect the mark out lines together and from the hip line I Lashes it out to have little A-line towards the low part then and cut.
Design for the front illustration
for the front design, I make used of 20inches already cut out placed it under down the main fabric with safeguard it office pin as if you want to cut facing for a neck line and ensure that the folded edges align together and trace out the neck, shoulder and armhole of the front block from the lace.
from the armhole part I came down by 4inches and from shoulder line I marked 13inches from that 13inches I measured 3.5inches downward then I rule that to a straight line from the 4inches on armhole side I connect it to the 3.5 like also then I cut it out.
Then I processed to the sewing machines, Firstly I placed the material I want to use for the design of the neck the right side the lace facing the wrong side rub a stitch trim and turn it out with a good press also make use of bias tape to align the edges I put the fabric in between the bias then I stitch it down at the edge before joining shoulders
After that I placed tape to measure round the neck line of the collar before cut out the collar and sewn it to the main body and attached the pocket and do the same to the sleeves after that I shape and turn up the down part.
Final outcome of the dress
Grandmas dress is beautiful. I like the lace you have used to highlight the design. It made it prettier.
