Hello Needleworkers..
It's been a very busy week for me, lots of deadline to meet but of course my love for the community always motivate me to pause and share some of my project here.
I made an overbust corset and pants for a client.
One thing I love most about this project is the latest technique I used in making the overbust corset and how the pant crotch was perfect for my client.
The first thing I did was to make the pant after which I proceeded to the corset blouse.
I used the bust and divided by four, after which I took the under bust tightening and all necessary measurement before transferring to the fabric.
I also interfaced the fabrics using a cotton hair stay to give it firmness.
I encased my Rigilene boning on the lining which was a bridal satin and caged the bust using fibre. That's why it was looking this way even before my client wore it.
There was no power supply at some point so I switched to a local iron (called the gas iron) , that was the most annoying part of this project. The gas iron is not usually fast as an electric iron. One would have to wait for a long time for it to get heated and it also requires patience and skill to use, else the fabrics get damaged.
I joined the main fabric also known as Damask and sewed the dart together.
I gave it a very good open press, so it relaxes well.
I turned the lining with the main fabric to give it a beat finishing.
My client didn't wanted a tube, so she called me to help her fix any kind of sleeve to it
I used my discretion and fixed a strap I cut from the pant left over. I pleated and attached it to the upper bodice.
The outcome was nice and the new technique which is the bust caging, made the corset firmer on the client's body.
I managed to receive just one picture of her rocking the outfit and at least it's better than not receiving at all.
After I made this two piece he brought her sister to make something from me and very soon I'll be sharing the project as well.
Images used are. mine. Outfit cut and sewn by me
