Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun: round 173

avatar

Hey there my Hive friends and followers!

Welcome to the 173rd round of my special weekly photo challenge known as Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun :)

I know a lot of photo contests with nature as the main theme were/are/will be hosted by various people on the Hive blockchain but I wanted to come up with something more than just another photo contest where participants would submit their best natural photos. Therefore, I decided to go for quite an unusual concept that I am going to introduce in the following lines.

The aim of the Appreciate Beauty of Nature with @phortun photo challenge is not to make you dig up your photo archives and submit the best pictures of nature that you have ever taken. Instead, I want you guys to go out and appreciate the beauty of our nature right now.

The internet (and the Hive blockchain as well) is flooded with picture perfect shots of landscapes, mountains, forests, beaches etc. taken years ago. But this is not what I want to see in this challenge. I want to see shots that may not be necessarily stunning but they must be fresh, proving that you have just physically spent some time outdoors in the fresh air. But remember that nature comes in many forms. It doesn´t have to be a pristine jungle or a deep remote forest. An urban park, a botanical garden, a little grove on the outskirts of your town - pretty much any place with some trees, plants, rocks, bodies of water or any other natural features would be just as fine ;)

Obviously, there is no way for me to verify whether the photo that you submit in the challenge is really fresh or if it was even taken by you so I am relying on your honesty guys. The prizes for the winners (as described below) are more symbolical than overly motivating so I don´t expect too much fraudulent behavior in this challenge anyway.

I want to keep the rules of this challenge as simple and benevolent as possible so let´s agree on just this:

Only one entry (photo) per person per round.

The photo must be yours and not older than one week.

Add a few words about the photo, at least where and when you took it.

You can start submitting your entries to this round in the comment section below from now until the next round. If you want to create a separate post as your entry, you can do that but please always remember to submit your entry in the form of a comment here in this post as well. I only check the entries submitted here as comments.

Prior to publishing the next round post, I will pick 3 winners, give my full upvote on their entries and feature them in the next round of the challenge. I also give some smaller upvotes on the other entries too so that all participants get rewarded for their engagement.

I usually host the challenge on Thursday but when needed for some reason, I can host it on some other day so better check my blog regularly not to miss out on it ;)

To keep up with you guys, I submit my own fresh natural photo to every round´s post too :) Here is my contribution to start out this round:

It´s mid June and it already should be very warm here in Central Europe but fortunately, the temperatures have been still very nice and enjoyable, mostly hovering just between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius. That´s still a decent weather for hiking and despite being amid a very hectic period that I wrote about here on my blog last week, I still manage to spend some nice quality time outdoors too, in the company of Mother Nature herself. The picture above was taken during one of my recent hikes. I enjoyed the forest view from a little viewpoint located above the Jaroslav Foglar Memorial on the edge of the Prokop Valley here in Prague, Czech Republic a couple of days ago.

In the last round, we had 15 participants. After some thorough consideration, I decided to pick these 3 winners:

@stresskiller with this entry from the Netherlands:

A tiny baby grasshopper I spotted this morning, at least I don't need to change his diapers :) Shot with Sony A7II + Laowa Venus 25mm f/2.8 2.5-5x Ultra Macro on 2.5 magnification. Location: the Netherlands.

@onlavu with this entry from the Czech Republic:

Hey there. Last Sunday, I went to check out our beloved mountains Jeseniky (Czechia). Here is view from its well known rock formation and mountain called Vozka. It offers <-360-> view, here is a view towards going down sun.

@suteru with this entry from the Philippines:

It's my first time joining your contests. This photo was taken last Sunday during our Trip in Oslob, Cebu, Philippines. The quality is not that good since my phone is placed in a protective plastic since it's not water proof, but this was a really exciting experience for me. But still I hope everyone likes it, good day! Swimming with the gentle giant.

Congratulations guys! It was my pleasure to give you 100% upvotes on your entries :)

I am looking forward to what you will come up with in this round.

Have fun and appreciate the beauty of nature!

As stunning as the pictures are, I am more hung up on the number. 173 weeks! That's dang impressive! I've done series in the past, but nothing that has lasted nearly that long here on Hive! You should be really proud, that is quite the accomplishment!

Thanks man! :) In fact, this series is the youngest one of those that I have hosted regularly :) My Monday guessing contest is about one year older than this photography challenge and my upvote giveaway series was also older but I don´t run that one anymore... Well, as it has been said so many times, consistency is one of the keys to success here on Hive ;) Thanks for stopping by!

How interesting this initiative. I like to appreciate these everyday gifts.... In the city it is not easy to get so much natural beauty, but I will look for something that comes close to natural beauty.
Thankful for this beautiful motivation... Greetings @phortun 👍🤗

I know what you mean but there is some nature in most cities too ;) The forest shot that I used as the thumbnail for this post was taken in Prague, a city that is home to 1.3 million people... Where there is a will, there is a way :)

It's true, thanks for the advice ☺️👍 I'm new in the city, I come from a town with many beautiful mountains and nice weather.

I like the city, but yes, it is up to one to appreciate and seek to focus attention on nature. I am trying not to lose that habit.
Thanks for the initiative.

It's not all the time that I get the opportunity to go outside to contemplate the beautiful colors that nature offers us, but today, Friday, I took this photo while enjoying the green color of this baby succulent, which is thriving! 💚.. Nice contest! My entry from Venezuela 🇻🇪.

Here’s my entry.

The rainy season is here already in Kaduna State Nigeria, and i got a chance to take this picture on my way to a ceremony last weekend. I love the rainy season because everything looks lovely and fresh. The fields are green and beautiful too.

Good day friends! Here is my entry for this round. I took the photo just yesterday afternoon near the new Café named Camp Panganod in Negros Island, Philippines. We did not only enjoyed the café food and drinks but also we enjoyed taking a very long walk up into the top of the hill which knees and chin met while climbing there but it was all worth the climb and efforts seeing this breathtaking view.

Wow! That´s a spectacular view! Thanks for this great entry. Btw don´t you have this picture in a bigger resolution? It looks like a thumbnail shot...

She uses a Samsung phone and I think the size she chose is 9:16 which captures a wide view. I also use an ordinary phone since my DSLR camera isn't working. :) and I prefer 3:4 size haha. We're sisters and sometimes we enjoy hiking together. This is the closer view below :)

I see, thanks for the explanation but I think the format of the picture is not the problem here, the size/dimensions is. I also shoot just with a phone but the photos are still big enough for the posts. Usually much bigger than necessary in fact. Try to open my own photo from this post (the forest landscape) in a separate window and do the same with your sister´s photo. You will understand the difference ;)

I understand what you mean and I'll try to take a better photo next time. I'm still experimenting or learning on how to use my phone's camera in a slow pace though, lol 😆 I should have or didn't listen to my sister since I am not a knucklehead 😄 🤣 Have a nice day! ☺️

Yesterday late afternoon we went on a short hike up the Mount Emu here on the Sunshine Coast in Australia. The weather was super nice, almost no wind and the sun already began to go down.

Beautiful scenery man. Is 20-25°c summer there? We feel lucky when temperature drops below 30°c here.

Thanks. Like I said, the temperatures have been unusually low so far but it´s changing now. For the next few days, we will also have temperatures of 30 C and more here... In July, we often have even 35 C and more.

Hi @phortun

The summer days are longer as we approach the equinox, so because it is quite hot during the day, my partner and I decided to take our walk in the late afternoon. The picture was taken last Friday at sunset at 'Cap Roig' (Red Cape) about three kilometres from our home on the island of Ibiza.

ESP

Hola @phortun
