Butterflies at the Calgary Zoo

I feel very lucky to have a place where I can view butterflies year round. The Calgary Zoo features a butterfly conservatory, which houses several different species. You can find everything from cocoons to fully grown adult butterflies here. Watching them feed is quite interesting, as their long tongues will protrude out to taste the various pieces of fruit scattered all over the enclosure. It can be quite humid, so when I go during the winter months, I have to take off my heavy jacket so the humidity does not get to me as quickly.

They are oh so beautiful 🦋 I love to watch butterflies too, but in my garden we don't have quite so much diversity -- so it is nice to see these wonderful images!!

The black spots on the wings of this butterfly look very attractive. You have captured this butterfly so beautifully in your camera. The carvings on his body also look very beautiful
