Faith, Reflection, and the Priorities of Life

Yesterday, I was planning to work in our garden, but then I remembered that it was Sunday; a day I dedicate to going to church and worshipping my Maker. It is important to set that as a priority. No matter what we own or achieve in this world, we must take time to reflect on what will happen after we are no longer alive.

Some people argue that there is no such thing as God, often questioning why a supreme being would allow evil to exist in the world. However, whether or not one believes in a supreme being, I am convinced that someone is responsible for the creation of the world. Nothing comes from nothing.

I am often amazed by the wonders of nature. For instance, when I visited a beach and watched the waves rise and fall on their own, I couldn’t help but reflect on the supernatural power of God. His presence is evident in everything around us.

Humans, however, are complex beings. We are difficult to manage, and our insatiable nature drives us to constantly seek more, no matter what we already have. This is one of the unique aspects of human nature. Another is our tendency to forget, particularly the reality that we are all bound to die one day. When we visit a place of mourning, our hearts grow heavy, and we feel a renewed pressure to live righteously, but how long does that feeling last? Not forever. Soon, we return to our usual way of life.

People will go to great lengths for survival. Imagine someone who hasn't eaten for a day and has no means of getting food. What do you think would happen if such a person were confronted with temptation?

I often say that no matter what, never be too quick to judge someone if you haven't walked in their shoes. You might do worse if faced with the same circumstances. Life has no manual, and no matter how much you try, you can never fully understand someone else's life or situation.

In all we do, we should always acknowledge God and trust that, no matter where we are or what we face, He is powerful enough to guide us through life. There are three key aspects of our existence that we must pay attention to: our spiritual life, our mind, and our physical being. These three work hand in hand for our overall well-being.

As for why I decided not to work in the garden yesterday morning, I prioritized going to church but later found time in the day to tend to the garden. I planned to clear the weeds that had overgrown my plants. I also remembered that today and tomorrow, Tuesday, are holidays, set aside for Muslims to celebrate the end of their fasting.
