What Do You Think the US Will Do About Iran?

Middle East, Ukraine, tariffs, and so on, are serious matters, which could use less buffoonery.

I think I'll call President Trump - Donald "nobody knows what I'll do" Trump from now on. That sentence will probably make history, when referring to a decision whether the US should attack or not Iran. Nobody knows what he'll do? That would be terrifying if it were true... which it probably isn't, on major issues.

That sounds like a wild character more than it probably is, but damn... maybe we should stop listening to what Trump says and only look and the actions being taken.

But the actions aren't very encouraging either for an escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. The US amassed serious military power in the Middle East area or on route to it. What says a lot in my opinion is that they moved the aircraft carrier from the Pacific which was protecting Taiwan to the Middle East too. That's when their military strategy was about to shift more toward the Pacific area than the rest of the world.

That shows how much importance they put on this Middle East conflict and its outcome.

Will they help Israel by striking the underground nuclear installations at Fordo? Will they do more? Will they say no?

Looks like Ideogram doesn't want to create something about war. I get it. I wouldn't want either.

It was my first impression that they wanted to act quicker at least where it comes to Fordo, but probably received quite a bit of negative feedback, and a constant reminder of the mess that was in Irak with the pretext that was the weapons of mass destruction that were never found. It's interesting that even from the US some specialists or something came and said that Iran is years away from having a nuclear bomb, not weeks away, as it was the pretext.

But maybe it was considered that the time is more favorable these days for military actions than at a different time. We have to take into consideration that the current regime in Iran does want the state of Israel to cease to exist, and have done more than declarations in this direction. A nuclear bomb - if built by Iran - could possibly be a death sentence to Israel as a habitable territory.

I know Israel (or Jews, in general) may not find too many sympathetic opinions especially in the context of the death toll getting higher, but I doubt anyone slightly moderate may think a nuclear bomb is the way to settle disputes of millennia which became acute after the creation of the Israel state.

Now we have a 2-week deadline until a decision is made about the US military action. It seems that after the initial "nobody knows what I'll do", somebody told Trump you don't toy with words when people are dying every day as a direct consequence of a conflict you talk about.

What do you think will be "Big Satan"'s decision? (That's how the Iran's leaders call the US, while Israel is "Little Satan")

As you can see... This is regarded as a religious war, as they usually have been in the Middle East.

It seems crazy to me with these conflicts where at least one party has nuclear weapons that they cannot talk. The leaders seem willing for thousands to die for their ideology. Trump seems keen to avoid getting into wars, but others he works with may be more aggressive. The cabinet seems to lack people with actual diplomatic experience.

From what I heard, Secretary of State Rubio is pretty versed on the diplomatic side. But hard to say what influence he exerts on decisions. Trump seems to prefer special envoys instead of more classic diplomacy.

Yeah, Trump leaves the impression he is not a warmonger. But initially, I think he was convinced about the necessity of the strike, then he started to back off. I'm not sure where he is right now or what the final decision will be.

trump is doing his usual chaos tactic, spreading rumors of doing nothing, spread rumors of attack... all i see is 50% of all US B-2 bombers positioned in location where an attack on iran can be done, a lot of tankers moved too... iran will never give up on nuke bombs, the regime would look ridicolous and collapse if they accept the terms... so i expect at 80% chance a US attack on iran

also israel doesn't have the bombs to destroy Fordo, you need MOABs for that

Yeah, that's how I see it too. They gave some time knowing Iran won't back down and that they'll end up attacking anyway. And if anyone questions the attack, they have the perfect excuse: they gave peace a chance, but didn't work.

Yeah, I'm just seeing it now... Let's see where this goes from here. Looks like the markets took it rather well... for now, sort of like a relief (or sell the uncertainty buy the news).

It seems more like a last warn from US, not a serious action. Iran isn't gonna retaliate too

Would be great if this won't escalate further. But who knows?

I heard some countries want to provide some nuclear warheads to Iran, that would be a mess

The question is not what the US will do, but what Trump will do...
Unfortunately, we live in a day when the greatest democracy in the world is run like a personal feud of one person.

!PIMP & !LUV for you!

I used to think that way. But I tend to believe he talks a lot, but in the end, when real action is needed he listens to others too. At least in some matters and to a few people.

I have no idea, but I have a feeling that a regime change will happen. In the end I think this is a religious war for Iran and Israel, but not for the US. I have a feeling that the US and Trump is more pushed by the oil there than anything else, and maybe Trump decided to use the nuclear option to get favorable deals on that.

Absolutely! The US has other reasons for getting involved, but a religious one is not one of them.

Maybe... It is also an option that the US wants to seriously weaken a big war supporter of Russia, since it won't get involved in a war on Russia directly.

Yeah... We'll see what happens. Things could get even uglier from here.

Someone said that the oil in the middle east is probably why the US is interested in the wars. Maybe or maybe not. But it's crazy that grown up people in different government are basing their actions on what Trump says in the media

That's probably one of the reasons. Probably a stronger reason when they went to Irak though.
