It was a typical summer day. Hot, long, and optimistic.

For the most part, I don't remember what I did on that day, but in the evening I certainly took a walk to the harbor and the seaside promenade here in Medulin - my hometown. Now, you may wonder how I know that while not remembering the rest. Well, because I took some photographs on that occasion so I'm able to reconstruct that part of the day.
In the opening picture, you can see two friends who were running a small rent-a-quad & boat business in the harbor. The sun is setting down in the background of this photograph, providing an outburst of beautiful golden light before the dark. Between the distant sun and the people in the foreground, you can see a fragment of the nearby amusement park. That small seasonal Luna park is there only in summer but has somehow become iconic almost like the church on the hill, in the center of the old town. When I think of Medulin, Luna Park is often the first thing that comes to my mind.

While walking up & down the promenade, I soon came across some other friends.

They were there with the children. Here you can see only two adults and two kids, but it was a larger group of people. Some were locals, others were tourists.

Near the amusement park, I mentioned earlier, just across the street, there was a similar place made primarily for small children. "Family Park" was and still is the name of that place. The attractions are considerably less frenetic there. I was sitting on the bench ...

... and following the action through the lens of my small compact camera.

As the day was turning into the night ...

... I caught some moments of amusement and happiness encapsulated in the facial expressions.

In this shot, a friend is managing a cannon that shoots soft yellow balls. The following photograph ...

... was taken in the parking lot outside the amusement park for kindergarten people. Some colorful toys were showcased there among the cars.

Before visiting the harbor and all those amusement parks, I ate some small cherry-like tomatoes for dinner. They were cultivated in my garden.

Later that night, in the city of Pazin, I witnessed a resurrection. A dead man that had nothing to do with Jesus or Lazarus came back to life.

The miracle was part of a piece of performance art that was going on in the square in front of the old medieval castle of Pazin.

I don't remember what that thing was about, and I'm not sure that I knew it back then in August 2014, but ...

... but I know that it was just a small fragment of a long summer festival that lasted seven days and included visual arts, dance, music, and theater.

Here you can see a scene from the introductory part of a play that continued behind the thick walls, in the castle's inner yard ...

... but started on the square.

In this mysterious shot, you can take a look at the people behind the veil. That scene happened in the second half of the play. My small, half-broken compact camera wasn't a good tool for capturing all that night stuff in low light, so the photographs are pretty bad, muddled, and grainy, but they do convey the atmosphere, and surprisingly successfully so. I'm definitely happy to have them.

This is the only morning shot from the 13th of August 2014. The 13th of August 2014 was a Wednesday. For the sake of a stronger effect, a Friday would be better, but it is what it is, things like this are beyond my control.
