Thanksgiving dinner at my house

My family was here for Thanksgiving dinner and stayed for much of the weekend. We had a marvelous time together cooking, eating, watching football, playing video games and watching F1

Many in my family do not do social media, so I've avoided posting people pictures, but instead am sharing some food pictures. There were only 6 of us for dinner, with others stopping by later in the evening and the next day.

Carving the turkey

We had both turkey and ham. My son in-law cooked the meat and he is not a big fan of turkey, so he made both.

scalloped corn and green bean casserole with fried onions on top. I don't have a photo of the mashed potatoes.

Cranberry/orange bread

Ajapsandali is a traditional Georgian and Armenian dish with onion, eggplant, tomato and bell pepper, seasoned with garlic, basil, coriander leaves, and parsley

And my daughters delicious pumpkin pie! Everyone's favorite!

American Football is something of a Thanksgiving tradition. It was after the kitchen had been cleaned and we were all sitting around chatting and watching the game that I mentioned to my daughter-in-law that I never got to try the stuffing that she made. I was assuming that it never got passed to my end of the table, but everyone exclaimed, 'ME EITHER!'
My son jumped up and went to the kitchen and sure enough, there was the stuffing, left untouched and forgotten on the stove.

It was really good stuffing and went great with left over turkey the next day!

Before they all left to go home they put up my Christmas tree and decorated my house for Christmas! Now I need to begin thinking about ordering holiday gifts.

What a feast.

I would try the Ajapsandali.
I have not heard about it so far.

It sounds and looks like some kind of Lecsó (Lecho), which is one of my favorite Hungarian dishes.

But maybe it is entirely different.

I am familiar at all with the Georgian and Armenian cuisine.

Either way, good appetite for all the delicious dishes.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Very pretty arrangements and I think such dinners keeps you relaxed and gives you a chance to have good relation with your fellows, with your siblings etc. It shows your love towards people who were invited.

The food looks delicious! I am also really glad to hear that the people in attendance don't care for social media. I think we are really changing the paradigm on that stuff! It's great to see more people try to stay off it than before.

Celebrating special days with family is always joyous and in today's times, social media is the biggest enemy of this family bonding. So if you look from my perspective, you would have enjoyed this special day even more and better. 🥰 Happy Thanksgiving to all!

That is quite a spread of food you had going there. Everything looks delish.

I love cranberry-orange flavored things. A local restaurant had a cranberry-orange muffin for a limited time and it was so good. I bet that bread was divine!

Glad you got to enjoy some of your family for the weekend.

I downloaded ecency app today and need to get myself familiar with it. I found the wave and am still learning what I can do with it.

Is it something like 150 characters on Twitter or similar to 100 words+one photo kinda post?

Oh my God, everything looks delicious 🤤 Although I'm not a big fan of turkey either 🤭

In my family we don't have the Thanksgiving tradition, but it seems to be a fun time to share with all family.

Thank you for sharing your fun night with us 😊

Turkey is a Thanksgiving tradition, but it is the only time all year that I serve it for dinner.

This makes me miss my thanksgiving dinner at my mother's house. Passing the sides around and oh scalloped corn my mother does that too. Not a big fan of stuffing but I would try the one you did. The cranberry & orange bread is a nice touch, looks delicious 😋

I had Thanksgiving at a co-workers house, not quite the same but I'm thankful I had one, almost missed it this year. Ham and turkey there as well! Happy Holidays Melinda 😃

What a delicious looking dinner! I understand not sharing pictures of those not the social media types. I'm not one either and left facebook and twitter years ago.

You did a great job on Thanksgiving! Everything was arranged so beautifully!

😆 so much food, I can imagine no one noticed. Ham and Turkey both is hard to pull off for a small gathering but both are awesome for leftovers. And stuffing is a often forgotten but important element of leftover turkey sandwiches 😋 my wife baked pumpkin pies a week early so of course they were already gone 😊 Ajapsandali sounds yummy. Does your family have ties to that part of the world? or just an adventurous addition to the traditional Thanksgiving fare?

I made a pot of bean soup today with some of the leftover ham.
My daughter in law grew up in the Caucacus Mountains, where her parents still live. She often makes one of her family's traditional dishes for our get togethers. They give our holiday meals an international taste!
