The Censorship & Cancel Culture Police are having a laugh.
I'm quite sure I know more than an average person about censorship and the hidden agenda behind most of these cancel culture that's being used in some platforms to shut people up. The whole censorship trend took center stage in recent years and there has not been a shortage of folks who fell into the censorship trap.
It almost feels like we've reached a point in modern history where people will literally lose their tongues because an agency, government, or a set of folks do not like the things the person is saying. Imagine canceling and censoring a comedian for saying jokes that are "offensive". Yeah. People don't really know how to take a joke and some people just want to pick offense with everything.
It's not just about the jokes though. Some people are saying things that need to be heard but because whatever they are saying is slapped with the "offensive" or "transphobic" tag, such people get attacked by the platforms they use to get their message out.
TikTok and YouTube has also been on people's neck for "politically incorrect statements" and the big media agencies are setting several traps to get a "gotcha" moment which they would use to cancel someone.
The things I've seen people suffer due to cancel culture or censorship are absolutely diabolical.
Do recall that anyone who shares opinions on the internet in written, audio, or audiovisual form can become a victim of these censorship mobs. If you are in the habit of telling the logical truth about a lot of the discussions going on at the moment, it will get to a point where people will want to shut you up and stop you from spreading your message.
This is why people are becoming too woke in the things they share on their platform and they try to make others do the same. I'm trying so hard to not drop the names of some of the influential creators who are playing this woke game. They know the ads they get and the sponsorship they get will be terminated if they speak facts. And, they can't afford to face the heat of cancel culture.
To be fair, that looks like the wise thing to do.
They say "It's all about tolerance" and stuff, but this sort of tolerance is what led us to this point where the world is now pretending that a dude can become an Ajumma overnight. The same people have been struggling to see the ripple effect of their tolerance when these folks identify as whatever and take advantage of that in sporting competitions and whatnot.
As far as I'm concerned, this political correctness stuff should be left for the sorta Politicians who choose to please everyone with every word they say. A writer or video content creator should be able to use his/her platform to share his thoughts and opinions without being under attack by the censorship & Cancel culture Police.
I'd like to add that folks need to have plan B when sharing their opinion on platforms that are heavily censored. They need to also be looking into platforms where their account or content won't be taken down for an expression of an opinion that is seen as "offensive" or whatever.
Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.

This censorship thing is really becoming more and more rampant, I wonder what those that do it stand to gain and how long their gains will last. It is really sad to see these things happening.

True. The whole censorship power pull is used as a tool to shut people up. They keep doing that and we are now in a world where people are scared of saying the truth
Most celebrities or influencers are now taking advantage of this Censorship to bring people's account down and it's really not funny. I used to think social media is a place you can voice out without anything happening to you but I was wrong.
The politics on social media is more than the one on real life
#dreemerforlife
True. The Politics being played online is weird. It's not just the politicians trying to shut people up. Even platforms like YouTube are doing the same. Companies that run big ads on these platforms also want to have a say in shutting people up.
That's why social media is turning to a place where people no longer feel comfortable sharing an opinion
The censorship stuff to me seems to be causing more damage than the good it is expected to cause
It's truly causing a lot of damage. I just don't like when people are stopped from expressing their opinions.
If one's action is in no way injurious to others, cancel culture is uncalled for. Many people don't understand the concept of freedom of speech and the right to hold an opinion. Some people want to force their opinion through the throats of others. It's appalling.

True. Cancel culture and the way it's used on several platforms to shut people up and stop them from spitting facts is not appealing in any way.
If they do that long enough, people will end up saying only what the government or these platforms want them to say.
That's the unfortunate possibility. I hope they change the tide.
This is the kind of generic and undeveloped consideration on the subject I have seen over decades. Can I ask you to think further ont he subject?
Consider: Limitation of what is socially acceptable has ALWAYS been part of civic life.
Sometimes that has, to a lesser or greater degree, been regulated by a governing authority. At times this has been national, regional, or even local civic authority. It has also been religious authority.
In the Roman Empire it very quickly became an act of heresy to insult the Emperor. In medieval Europe speaking against the church could result in death. In Elizabethean England the monarch had similar protection.
When the USA got started there is a naive thought that the First Amendment ensured anyone could say anything and yet it took Supreme Court decisions to find that freeness of speech extended to not partaking in the Pledge of Allegiance, or sharing pornography. Look up the how people as disparate as the very religious Barnette sisters and the more secular Lenny Bruce were persecuted for exercising freedom of speech.
Concepts of free speech have taken a new twist since the advent of the internet and again with social media.
A major issue many folks fail to get to grips with is where free speech and company/community rules/guidelines intersect. A company which provides a forum will have company rules they enforce, and may also be bound by rules in countries or territories in which they operate. EG - you cant allow information about the Tianamen Square Massacre if you operate in China; you have to permit individuals to request non-publicaly available information about them be removed if you operate in the EU.
HIVE is a truly free speech platform. But even here people who choose to post that which offends the social norms will find their output suffers and unable to find traction.
So, choose to be careful in differentiating who or what is 'cancelling' by limiting free speech.
Where a company is doing it, then they will be doing it for either financial or idealogical reasons and, realistically, finances win in the long run.
Where a community is doing it, that will be idealogical and you may want to decide on whether you and that community are sympathetically aligned.
Where a government is doing it, well that covers a spectrum from community protection to attempting to enforce ideology (eg, normal folks agree child pornography is abhorent, but banning Fahrenheit 451 or To Kill A Mocking Bird from schools is authoritarian).
A large part of understanding free speech is acknowledging that other peoples boundaries and yours will differ hugely based on your own experiences and beliefs. Allowing another person to hold beliefs you feel are wrong/sinful while accepting their right to hold them is a balancing act many a person is unable to manage.
I remember when FB use to actively restrict my activities because I post what people cannot come to terms with. They would always report my account so what I did was to block anyone who comes to attack me on my post. Now my FB page is a bit and the account restrictions has stopped.
I think this could help others with the controversial opinions.

People don't understand the harm of this censorship and cancel culture until they experience it themselves.
Even the things you posted as "controversial opinions" can still be facts but this is where my dislike for the whole cancel culture comes from. People are not ready to hear the truth. Once they see something that negates what they believe or want to believe, they feel like censoring the post or account.
Hmm, this is a very broad topic.I don't think it's used to shut people up.

It's quite broad and very complex. In my experience, it's not just use to shut people up for having opinions. It's used to damage people's career.
That has really been the case in recent years.
