Hive PUD - Sept 2025 (I actually managed to buy some Hive this time!)

Today is the 1st day of September which means a couple of things. Firstly it means that this year is flying past (how are we already in September!), but the other thing it means is of course Hive Power Up Day

As mentioned in a previous post, I've not used actual money to power up some Hive for a while, but with the recent price drop down to just $0.20, it is a bargain at the moment

Those of you who read my previous post will know I quickly hit a snag when I turned to @ionomy in order to do this, as the account appears to be inactive, and the website refuses to load.

I asked for suggestions on where to turn next, and got some helpful replies.

I wanted 2 key things:

1 - I want to give out as little KYC info as possible
2 - It needs to be simple

I don't want to faff around with setting up new accounts, or new wallets, or want to transfer it through 17 different sites. I want to buy something on coinbase, swap that to Hive and transfer it here.

The first option was simpleswap.io

image.png

It looked straight forward enough, just send some btc to their address, and then get hive sent to my hive account.

But I didn't want to just get hive, I needed to find a way to reverse the transaction (i.e. send them hive and receive btc, which I could then sell on Coinbase). I don't plan to sell anything anytime soon, but I need to know that the option to take it out exists

I also know that @goldenoakfarm wanted to know how to do it, so I decided to check for her benefit

it turns out that it will not do that swap in the other direction, it will not allow me to swap HIVE with anything interesting (no BTC, no ETH, no LTC)

image.png

So simpleswap.io is not suitable

I really wanted to avoid setting up new accounts on either Binance or Mexc, so there was one more option to try in order to just 'swap' the currency I needed: Changelly.

I checked the options and could see there were options to give BTC and receive HIVE:

image.png

But importantly I would be able to do the opposite transaction, and give HIVE in exchange for BTC

image.png

Right then. I think I've found a suitable way to trade.... lets give this a go.

*First of all I need to transfer some money from my bank to Coinbase, and then buy BTC with it.

I'll share screenshots below of the transaction (mostly for my benefit as I'll probably forget by the time I try this again

image.png

1/4 - select the amount of BTC I want to send (remembering to take in account the transfer fee)

image.png

2/4 - select my destination address (i.e. my Hive account)

image.png

3/4> - go back on to coinbase and send the correct amount of BTC to the Changelly address

image.png

4/4 - Wait for the transaction to happen

image.png

Sending...

image.png

...and there we have it, the BTC has been recieved, and the Hive has been sent to me

image.png

I have to say, it was a really easy and simple way to do it (even easy than the ionomy route to be fair). And the only info I needed to provide was as email address to create an account. And presumably to action the transaction in reverse, I'd just put the opposite information in - send my Hive to a specified account, and then recieve the exchanged BTC to the wallet I specify.

And now its time to power up my account with 420 Hive:

...which takes me to a grand total of 27220,397 HP

Another small step closer to Orca status... I will get there eventually!

HPUD complete, its now time to crack on with my work day... see you again same time same place for Octobers PUD!

I've not bought for £ in a while. I have a Wirex card, not he haven't used it lately. I'm getting $HIVE by selling some game stuff for now. Enjoy your extra power.

i have been looking into buying too , before i went to the hospital i couldn't create an account with binance my region , Holland was not supported so i was trying the Korean exchange to see if that would work , turns out my ID was to old needed a new pasport .

there is to much hussle to buy / sell hive it should be a lot easier , no wonder people walk away from the platform it should be a lot more consumer friendly to buy / sell hive , use a cc get charged and there is your hive or use IDEAL .

but i guess that will never happen .

It really is so awkward to try and move money into and out of crypto... it is a major barrier to people getting involved in the first place, let alone a million shitty memecoins, and scammers everywhere to also put people off!

Mainstream adoption will only get better, and so in time I hope that it will become easier and more user friendly too. Whether Hive can be in the right place to capitalize on that, only time (and luck) will tell!

Cool! But I was hoping for reversing directions...sigh. But I will save this post and maybe it will help with the reverse some...

Well I did say say I'm not looking to take money out yet... I'd be happy to do a test run, but I'd lose money in transfer fee's

I have gone through the motions to transfer hive into bitcoin as shown below... I follow all the steps all the way up to the final step (but i don't actual press the last button to confirm the trade)

by the way, I am assuming you already have a crypto exchange account set up, I use coinbase which is linked to my bank account. I use coinbase to buy btc in the first place)

1 - go to changelly.com and register an email address (the main point to have an email address is to have a log in, so you can check the status of trades, or see your trade history

2 - On the main page, choose your tokens that you wish to exchange

image.png

3 - once you've chosen, type in the value of Hive, then click 'next step'

image.png

4 - log into your coinbase account, click on an option to 'recieve' and it will give you a long alpha-numeric btc wallet address

copy and paste the wallet address into here on step 2/4

image.png

5 - it tells you to send the hive to @exchangein

image.png

image.png

remember to include the memo in the transfer, and to transfer precisely the right amount of hive you said you would transfer

I stopped here... but once you send the hive, the screen changes to step 4/4 and then the trade will start to go through, and the bitcoin will end up in you wallet of choice, to sell for actual money.

(you can of course use any other currency to transfer and sell... I just prefer bitcoin)

Hope that helps!

Thank you! I'm saving this one too! I did used to have things set up years ago. Don't know if they are still good or not...

This is a big help for this old Neranderthal!

You're very welcome!

Might be a task for you if you get a spare afternoon. Dig out old websites and passwords and see what you still have!

Happy HPUD, Dan 🎈
This was an accurate guide and intresting enquire. Sadly, it is no use for me personally, in my case. I am in the same boat with you (considering my attitude to the KYC policy). But cant simply use my credit card to change fiat for crypto due to so called 'sanctions' ... heh

Happy HPUD qwerrie

Thank you, I hope it helps some people at least. It really shouldn't be this hard to get involved in crypto!

It can be hard enough to keep up with updates in this area, and processes that used to work become obsolete and fail so quickly
