I decided to watch this movie because I'm a big fan of Awkwafina, and seeing John Cena alongside her was a bonus, especially since it was classified as an action movie but turned out to be more of a comedy, which is what I liked most about it. I mean, with its scenes full of madness and improvisation, you could tell that these actors had a lot of fun working on this film, and my suspicions were confirmed when I saw the bloopers at the end during the credits. It also has a simple plot where they propose the idea that in the near future, due to the economic crisis in the United States, a million-dollar lottery was set up, but to claim the prize, you literally have to survive the entire day. This reminded me a lot of the movie The Purge, but a comedy version without any deaths.
Decidí ver esta película porque soy muy fan de Awkwafina y ver a John Cena junto a ella me resultó un plus, más aún cuando la clasificaron como acción pero resultó ser más comedia que otra cosa y fue lo que más me gustó. Es decir, sus escenas cargadas de locura e improvisación, se notaba que estos actores se divirtieron mucho al trabajar en este film y mis sospechas fueron ciertas al ver los bloopers al final cuando corrieron los créditos. Además presenta una trama sencilla donde plantean la idea de que en un futuro cercano, por la crisis económica que se vive en Estados Unidos, se fijó sortear una lotería millonaria pero para reclamar el premio, literalmente tienes que sobrevivir el día entero. Esto me recordó mucho al estilo de la película la Purga, pero versión comedia y sin muertes.
I enjoyed seeing the chemistry between the two protagonists, despite their height difference and, obviously, their physical features. The truth is that both are talented comedians, with a lot of talent to spare. I love the irony that Awkwafina brings to her roles; it's like a natural sarcasm that suits her well without coming across as unpleasant, but rather the opposite: fun and funny. As for Cena, with his large size and distinctive face, he also fit the role very well. This man looks tough, on par with The Rock, but when he says certain lines, he's good at comedy, and best of all, it fits him like a glove.
Me agradó mucho ver la química entre ambos protagonistas, a peasr de su diferencia de altura y obviamente de sus rasgos físicos. La verdad es que a ambos se le da la actuación en la comedia, los dos cuentan con mucho talento para derrochar. Me encanta la ironía que marca Awkwafina en sus papeles, es como un sarcasmo que le sale natural y le queda bien sin llegar a ser antipática, sino todo lo contrario, divertida y graciosa. En cuanto a Cena, por su gran tamaño y su cara diferente, también le quedó muy bien el papel. Este hombre se ve todo rudo, al mismo nivel que La Roca pero al decir ciertas frases se le dió bien la comedia y lo mejor, que le calzó como un zapato.
I also enjoyed the extra performances, such as that of Ayden Mayeri, whom I mistook for Camila Cabello because of their physical resemblance, but who turned out to be a very talented Iranian comedian. Her crazy antics and expressions had me laughing out loud. Machine Gun Kelly also got a chance to shine, albeit briefly, and I found his performance interesting. But the one who surprised me because I didn't recognize him at the time was the great Seann William Scott, who has also made some very good comedy films, and I think many will remember him from the American Pie saga. This guy delivered with his brief performance, and then some. He made me laugh in his scenes; his appearance was quite good, as expected.
También disfruté de las actuaciones extras como la de Ayden Mayeri, a quien confundí con Camila Cabello por su parecido físico, pero resultó ser una comediante iraní muy talentosa. Con sus locuras y expresiones me robó unas cuantas carcajadas. También le dieron la oportunidad a Machine Gun Kelly, aunque sólo por un breve momento y su actuación para mi resultó ser interesante. Pero de quien me llevé una sorpresa porque no lo reconocí en el momento fue del grandioso Seann William Scott, quien también ha hecho muy buenas películas de comedia y creo que muchos lo recordarán de la saga American Pie. Este muchacho si dio la talla con su actuación breve y por mucho. Me hizo reir en sus escenas, fue bastante buena su aparición, como era de esperarse.
And since I've had a rough few days, I've decided to watch movies that make me laugh. I need to relax a little, and what better way to do that than with a good laugh? What I did find silly about this film is its low rating on movie websites such as FilmAffinity, SensaCine, and IMDb. This makes me think that comedy films are very poorly rated these days and that it's a shame that they are no longer appreciated as they used to be. I'm talking about good comedy films where you knew everything was absurd, but you were okay with it, and they made you laugh. This film is like that, and it reminded me of the classic style of other films such as the Scary Movie series or those starring Leslie Nielsen, an actor I admire and miss seeing on screen. I recommend it if you want to see something different that will make you laugh out loud. I give it an 8/10.
Y como he tenido unos días algo difíciles, he optado por ver películas que me hagan reir. Realmente necesito relajarme un poco y ¿qué mejor manera de hacerlo que a carcajadas? Lo que si me resultó tonto de este film es su baja calificación en las páginas de Cine como FilmAffinity, SensaCine y IMDb. Esto me hace pensar que las películas de comedia están muy mal valoradas actualmente y que es lamentable que ya no las aprecien como se hacía antes. Hablo de buenas películas de comedia donde sabías que todo era absurdo pero estabas de acuerdo con ello y te hacían reir, este film es así y me recordó al clásico estilo de otras películas como la saga de Scary Movie o las de Leslie Nielsen, actor que admiro y extraño ver actuar. Yo por mi parte se las recomiendo si quieren ver algo diferente que les robará mínimo una carcajada. De mi parte le doy un 8/10.
