Budapest at Night 🔥 (Money Exchange)

Was sagt ihr dazu?

Blaha Change (Money Change Office) in Budapest, Hungary

English

In addition to the ATMs, where you can withdraw cash, often at very poor conditions, there are also traditional money exchange offices in Budapest where you can change euro banknotes into forints.

Here, too, you have to be very careful not to get ripped off, but this office (Blaha Change), for example, paradoxically offers better conditions than most ATMs in the city center 😂

The fee (commission) is 1% and the rate would be 407 HUF / EUR (exchange rate was 416-417).

It's somewhat ridiculous that exchange offices sometimes have better conditions than ATMs. What do you think? Why is that the case?

Money exchanges are unique, there is no need for so many rules here. The scary thing is cheating.

Use Revolut, it generally offers the best exchange rates, although they are a tad worse on weekends and bank holidays.

I am an honest promoter, not being paid for that :)) But I travel a lot, usually like 10 countries a year, and none of them has the same currency as we do - CZK. So it saves me few dozens Euro a year :)

It is rare but sometimes this can happen. It happens often with metals.

That is sad... But you go where it's cheapest in the end I suppose. Enough people must not care about that percentage lost otherwise they would go to the exchange!

This is safer than ATM especially during night time. But these offices should have safety measures too as its prone to hold up.

I think it's because those but I guess they are fine with the small margins. If not, then I guess they might just be a bit behind on the exchange rates or they don't update as much.

I think the cost in ATM is more higher because of the security and assurance it provides

The state of ATM machines are not really good there
Here, we rarely use ATMs anymore because we can always get cash on the streets from POS vendors

This is one thing the government has to look into
It’s a poor case
