Save the Turtles! 🐢
I have come across a couple of the slower moving creatures on our planet so far this spring, in need of some assistance. Today, I will share with you one I watched fling out from underneath a vehicle in front of me on the way to the store the other morning.

I turned around and hurriedly tried to find it. He was upside down in the bottom of the ditch about 30 yards down the hill, boxed up inside his shell. I mean, that's gotta be scary! Some metal giant almost squishing you and throwing you like a discus?

So I took the young Eastern Box Turtle home. I pieced what I could of his shell back together. @khaldeesi shared a fun fact with me she learned from watching a science video on YouTube. The shells of turtles are actually an extension of their ribs! The more you know.
I let the girls love on him for a couple days while he regained his composure. Caramel wasn't sure what to think of him. For a minute, I thought she would make him her new chew toy 😆. We let Scuffy go and the princesses were proud to have illegally harbored yet another native species helped a fellow earthling along its merry way. For all we know, it was God seeing if we still carried compassion. Who knows? I do know, you should REMEMBER TO BE YOU! I always am, #turtlepower!

I have a weakness for turtles, before I thought they were not very funny, then I got one that I had to give up for adoption because I live in an apartment, but I had it for 3 years and it showed me intelligence and socialization, it came out to meet me every morning, once I don't know how, it was left on its back, and when I went into the kitchen it made a guttural noise so I could see it and turn it over. They really are helpless creatures and suffer a lot. Good thing you were able to rescue that one.
