Failure || The road to success

Greetings!

This life is a life of mystery and the mystery of life has a lot of things embedded in it. One of those things embedded in life is failure. Failure has always been part of life and it has always had its own influence on the journey of the individual in life, being it positive or negative.

Hmmm, some people would be wondering what positive effects failure could have on the life of the individual. But believe me sincerely, there's many positive effects that failure can bring to the life of an individual. Though, it might not be before the failure occurred, but definitely after the failure, the right mind of the victim of failure would always bring about positivity.

Like I said earlier, failure has always been part of man and even some wouldn't have been where they are if not for the failure that happened to them at one stage of their lives, they would have not been where they are now. We have heard of many inventors that have in one way or the other failed in their inventing, but later got it right from the lesson they've learnt through the failure.

Not only that, failure in life is not a crime but a means to have proper experience about life and what one has failed at. Failure to me is a way of gathering experience for the next phase of life and that's why it's very important for us to move on after failure. Like I said earlier, failure helps to build experience and experience they say is the best teacher.

I have also failed before, but one thing is that, I have never allowed my failure to draw me back, but instead push me to work hard and achieve great success in life. In this write up, I would like to share my little experience about failure and how it's at the end shaped my life.

When I was in the secondary, I was one of the best students in my set and for this reason, I was appointed as the senior prefect boy of my school otherwise known as head boy. This position of head boy back then was always reserved for the best of the best and thank God I was given the position and to be sincere to us all, I can boldly say, I merited the position due to my academic excellence. Back then in my secondary school, I used to be the best in almost all the subjects and I have also won many awards for the school at the various inter school competitions.

But what happened? When I was to write my SSCE, I made sure I prepared so hard and well for the exam and even to the best of my ability, I put in all my effort to writing all my papers, but when the result came out, the unexpected happened and I could not meet the expectations of people as regards my result as I failure woefully in my core subjects. Though, when the result came out, people couldn't believe it, but that's what we saw and I took it as my own fate.

So, after the release of the result, so many people called me to ask me about what had happened and I couldn't even tell them what had happened as I didn't really know what went wrong with the result. Some encouraged me to put in more effort, while some prayed for my success in life.

So, after some time, I decided to move on with life and start to prepare for the next GCE. But before, I have made a review of what happened to me as to the failure in my last examination outing and through this review, I was able to detect some of those things that affected my performance and in that process, I decided to work towards it before going for the next examination.

Lo and behold, the next examination, which is a GCE, came and I sat for the exam after thorough preparation, but one thing that really helped me is the review that I made about the last exam. So, the exam was more of a revision to me while writing it and a few months after the exam, the result of the exam came out and I came out with flying colors. Though I was afraid to check the result of the exam. But I summoned courage to do so and the rest was history as I passed with Distinctions.

But, that was not the end of everything. The failure I recorded in my first examination really helped me to build myself not just for the second examination, but for life in general as what I have learnt through my first failure really spring me to action. I read and made researches on my own and with few consultations and this really at the end put me on the path of success. Had it been I didn't take such steps after my first failure, I wouldn't have risen again and I would have been where I used to be, but for the lessons I have learnt through my first failure, I was able to rise and confront the challenges of life which later brought me good success.

Also, I have experienced failure in all other aspects of my life, being it in business and relationship. I could remember my first investment that left me with nothing. This investment of mine was into selling of foodstuffs. Though when I started, everything was good, but in the long run, it got collapsed due to some issues such as selling on credit and the likes, so, when this happened, I was really depressed, but I got over it later. Then, after thorough review of my activities, I got over it and bounced back to doing exploit in my new business. Such is the power of failure. The power of failure is to bring back one to life after what might have been the fallen of a hero.

So, failure can both bring good and bad things to one way, but the joy for those that are determined with their lives is that, they would only see the opportunity in their failure and not the setbacks caused by the failure. So those opportunities and lessons learnt from this failure would serve as a springboard to their success in life.

This is my entry to the sciFi weekly prompt.

Thanks for reading.

You said the truth, failure is not the end but a way to learn and grow. I really admire how you didn’t allow your failure to break you down but instead you used it as a step to rise higher.

I can relate so well to everything you shared, especially the part where you say failure is not a crime but a means to experience.

Like you said, failure gives us experience. A lot of persons won't be where they are today if they didn't fail and learn from their failure

Failure is like a double-edged sword. On one end, it hurts and breaks us, on another end, it makes us stronger.

There is nothing with failing but it will become a problem when someone life and didn’t stand up. For the fact a failed one’s that does mean you are a failure
