Mastering Your Time

Hello, beautiful people! Welcome to my blog. It's a pleasure to have you in this space. Once again, welcome πŸ€—

There was a time in my life when I used to wish for more time to be added to my 24 hours, because I felt like 24 hours just wasn't enough for me to get everything done. This was largely because I had this bad habit of leaving most of my work or tasks undone until I had very little time left before a deadline. This wasn't because I was a chronic procrastinator or lazy. Instead, it was because I had this bad habit of delaying arrangements or preparations for tasks until the time was quite limited.

For instance, when I want to travel, I wouldn't start arranging my stuff until I had just a little time left before departure. This is also the same with other tasks or assignments; once I go through them and realize they aren't something that's overly stressful or complex, I will just leave them until I have only a few hours left before the submission deadline.

Even though mostly I managed to meet all my deadlines on time, I have come to realize that this isn't a wise or optimal way to manage my time. This, to an extent, has limited me because I haven't been managing my time well. It took me time to figure out how to manage my time more effectively. One strategy that has worked out well for me to a large extent is having a mental plan of how my day would go, and I do this a day before. This has helped me manage my time better and have some structure to my day.

However, as a mom to toddlers, many unexpected things usually happen that aren't on my to-do list. Things like tantrums, needing to tend to a child, or unexpected interruptions that shift my focus and alter my plans.

Also, there are days when I still find myself procrastinating, not because I want to put things off, but because I might be exhausted at that moment and need to rest mentally. On those days, pushing myself too hard could lead to me breaking down.

what are those things you see as a waste of your time?

Here are some activities that I try to avoid or limit in order to manage my time well. One of these is aimless scrolling on social media. Instead of wasting time browsing through feeds that don't add value to my life, I focus on content that is beneficial and informative.

I so much enjoy watching movies, but I have made a conscious effort to be more disciplined with my time. There are times when I go months without watching movies, not because I don't want to, but because I need to prioritize what's more important and productive to me at that time.

Another time waster I try to avoid is engaging in unnecessary gossip or meaningless conversations that don't lead to any positive outcome. Instead of spending time on these unproductive discussions, I would rather use that time to do something meaningful or simply get some rest.

These time wasters should be avoided by all means to enable one to stay focused and make the most of their time.

THANK YOU FOR READING TO THE END πŸ€—

I will still count it as procrastination. Just that it’s not yet chronic or concentrated. πŸ˜‚ like you have specified.

Time is so important and waits for no one. I also have mental plans just like you do. And it works fine

Unnecessary gossips will add no value instead of wil take from you, not everyone knows this but it's the truth.
