Why I Stick with MTN (Mostly)
When it comes to choosing a network provider to use, especially for most of us in Nigeria ,it's not actually which one has cheaper data plans or call rates but which one is most available in your location. But then, one can find himself in a location where multiple network providers are available; in this case, it becomes a personal choice over which one is faster or cheaper.
Currently , I use 3 different network providers due to the frustrations I have faced in the past. I use MTN, Airtel, and Glo, but MTN has been my primary network provider since many years ago. Even though MTN people said everywhere you go, it hasn't been the case for me, but then, so far, it has proven to be more stable than others. I think I rarely have network issues with MTN here in Lagos State, Nigeria, where I reside, except for the time we have a general network glitch and a few times the network will just vanish from my phone.
Aside from the fact that MTN recently increased the cost of their data plans, I have always said that MTN data plans are cheaper and faster, but now they're crazy expensive but still fast, at least for me. The time I usually switch to either Glo or Airtel is mostly when MTN starts their network drama , but still, I find Glo and Airtel so discomforting to use. This is because it takes forever before these networks load my pages, especially Glo, and then the Airtel network drains my data. I really don't know if this experience is a general one, but practically this is what I have been facing with Airtel. More reason why I still stick with MTN even with their current high data plans: it gives me what I want on many occasions; it doesn't delay my online activities; I can simply browse without stress and stream online every morning without issues and download whatever I want, except sometimes when the weather isn't friendly and the network starts acting up, then my other network providers become my backup lines at that time.
Whenever I travel to my hometown in the east , the MTN network is usually zero over there. It's frustrating , so unstable; I can't make calls with it nor browse the Internet. This is why having backup lines for me is non-negotiable. Airtel and Glo always come through for me over there. But then, there was a time I had a bad experience with MTN while in Lagos State, where MTN used to be stable. That day, I woke up to make my post on Hive as usual and discovered that I had no access to Hive. I wanted to earn my yearly badge, so I didn't want to miss my daily streak posting. I tried everything and even subscribed another data thinking that I exhausted my data , yet I couldn't access Hive. That was the day I bought Airtel and Glo network for the first time and at the same time to fight such frustration, and in the evening of that day, I was able to publish my post using the Airtel network.
Overall, I have experienced network fluctuations while using these three network providers, but the MTN network stands out for me both in availability and fast network services without feeling much of unbearable frustration while using their services.

I think Mtn still remains the best for now despite the fact that they still mess up a lot of time. I use MTN as well but when their data rate went up, I got a glo sim which I ended up abandoning because the network was always crawling.
If it works today, it won't be tomorrow so that consistency isn't there.
Hahaha..glo network crawl like a baby .lol
Those guys should upgrade oo
To be fair, Mtn is still the best network, at least based on my own experience with all the networks... But right now it is no longer about the network with the best service, it is now about the network with a better subscription plan as long as it still does what we intend to use it for... Waiting for you to join the airtel 5G router gang, akonam🏃
Hahaha 🤣🤣🤣..avoid me burl , until I become a whale like u, who Airtel 5G , help🤣🤣🤣
Truly, MTN beats all in stability but their data price rate has made a lot of people consider Airtel as the better option.
I tell u...but then, I love to have speed while online ..I hate sluggish network ..lol
Airtel is very reliable and provides network at the most unexpected places, I love Airtel and I have been using it for years . Airtel is the best.
Glo is really cheap, the data price is so cheap, but the network is bad and really annoying.
I have an MTN sim, I hardly use it, because Airtel is always available and reliable.
Wow..like I said, it all depends on ones location ..Airtel hadn't been serving me better than MTN
With my experiences with network providers, Mtn is the best. Although sometimes, they act as if something is in their heads, they are still better than other networks.
Hahaha..lol
They can be crazy atimes , but in , they still staff out for me
Airtel and Glo has refused to upgrade their network. MTN knows that their network (Airtel and glo) can be horrible. So they know that even though they increase it by 1000% people will still buy because they literally have no competition.
Exactly , they literally had no competitors in this part of our world . What most people want is quality service regardless of the cost .
I also think MTN is actually the best amongst the network providers we have in the country in terms of fast network and infact in some places where service seems to be bad you can still find MTN working if not very fast but a little bitn. Although their prices of data seems to be off the roof but still many peoppe rely on them.
People still patronize them even with their high cost because they are much reliable
MTN is good, but i still think they drain data faster than airtel. Most of the time, I am not even aware of how the data would finish. Its usually frustrating sometimes :(
Hahaha 😀😀😀, do u do monthly subscriptions? I think that one is much better when it comes to economizing data
sadly, I am a daily planner :(...... I may mistakenly use up a monthly plan in a few days XD
MTN is quite fast and more reliable than even Airtel, but you see Glo?? That network should be scrapped out already not until somebody commits suicide from the frustration that comes with using the network.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My lawd 😀🤣....glo people are something else..they can never improve in their lives
Big for nothing
Considering your analysis, as you have experimented on three networks and all three have their own advantages, I have also read posts by some other Nigerian authors in which they have favored Airtel, but after your post, I have come to the conclusion that MTN is a good network in your country, but it may be that it is giving you good facilities in your area and the signals and internet speed are better, and in other areas, as other Nigerian friends have written, Glo and MTN do not give good results, we will have to accept their words too.
Of course, the whole connectivity depends mostly on one's location. That's why finding a network that works fine for u is just the best
Thanks for the curation
Mtn is everywhere you go, how come it's not available in your home town. Lolz
Hahaha 😃😃😃
Don't mind them oo
Thanks for the curation ♥️
MTN is good but I prefer Airtel when it comes to data plans.
Wow .different choices
MTN data and airtime is very expensive but is really is the best in Ghana too.
Yea..quality but expensive
Truly MTN claimed to be everywhere you go but not true anyways. They have some limitations however compared to others I think I preferred them like that. Glo frustrated me some weeks back. No notification just like that went off and you can't even make a post.
Glo are big trying ..MTN still stands out
Ok
Yea,.It's depends on area which network works best, but I think MTN is still the best, but since a tasty and delicious soup requires huge money, it's so expensive than the rest
Hahaha
Good soup na money make am
Lol
Most people will say they love mtn network than the others, but to me all networks have their good and bad times
Of course..there are times other networks come through
No one is really perfect
That is just it, by the way ur post is nice
