From Delay To Done: Breaking The Procastination Cycle
If there was an initiative to award procastinators, I'd definitely be one of the participants and before, I'd come out proudly for it without even realizing I'm hindering myself from a lot of things. Until recently, I've always seen myself as the lazy kind. I'm still lazy but I'm not as bad as I had been seeing myself. I mean, it's cool to take a break.
Where it becomes a problem is when your rest time is more than the time you get things done. Resting when you have important things to do is procastination whether intentionally or not intentionally. I've had so many times I chose to rest and be like "Whatever happens happens!" over doing things I knew would be best for me.
Procastination can come in different forms, times and in different kinds of activities. In terms of my daily activities, I fight everyday to go over procastination and have things done as soon as possible to have more time for any casual things I want to, especially resting. One thing I've learnt is that, procastination keeps our minds heavy.
What I mean is, when you have a pile of work to do and you decide to push when to do it because you feel lazy or too tired, you will always feel that heaviness of knowing you have a work waiting for you until you actually do it. There's no peace of mind in that and I think it's one of the reasons we all want to get rid of the habit, procastination.
One point is clear from my experience with this habit, it's fine to procrastinate mildly (delay a bit) but get back on it like the delay never happened". After all, we always promote good rest while we go about our activities, ignoring the things that should be done for a rest is where procastination comes in, a balance is needed.
One of the ways to break out of this cycle is actually deciding you want to get over it, it's a hard decision for those who are so deep into it but a step is made from deciding to take it. It's like telling yourself regularly that you don't want to delay what you have to do, and then, you plan your activities in small portions for easy action.
Having an accountability friend helps a lot too, I had a friend who wouldn't even let me delay a little when I have something important to get done and it kinda rubs off on me to be more intentional in other tasks. Rewarding myself when I do things I could have delayed on, helps me to want to go over procastinating over again.
Eliminating distractions and scheduling tasks is a useful way to break out of procastination too. I can't count the number of times I've had to pause to just watch one or two videos on Tiktok or YouTube shorts before I go back to what I was doing, it's a war most times to go back lol. Procastination is fun but fight to get rid of it.

I have always put things away for later all my life, lots of things to the point where it never got done at all. Could be projects started, cleaning, etc. Trying to work on myself and get over my faults as best as I can though :)
And that's the start to getting over it totally, try to work on yourself 😊
Yea! Procrastination is one bad habit that can keep you in a particular circle or situation longer than you would love to be. You might feel comfortable for a while, but you are killing your time for important things.
Yeah, people find it hard to leave a comfortable zone and so procastination tend to persist 🥲

The kind of procrastination I did during my undergraduate studies deserves to be studied because it was really bad.
But now I’m a big woman so I’m doing better. Thanks for sharing these tips with us.

Thank goodness it's better now.
It had to be better.😅
Procrastination is one the worst habits one can have and it's enough to destroy a good career and life. If you can't break the cycle of procrastination you will end up miserably. Fortunately, I don't have the habit.
Oh yeah, I know without you telling that you don't have the habit hehe. That's a great thing.
You see that anything that wants to happen let it happen spirit?? I pray against it every day because there's no way I'm defeating procrastination with such cultist mindset 🌚
