A Dreamcatcher Tale: Revisiting My Childhood Ambitions

I learnt of a string or yarn decorated with feathers, called dreamcatcher that give it's owner good dreams. I once saw it in a movie and since then I've been wondering if I had an invisible one in my room when I was little. The way I was changing dreams and getting excited at every new dream was not ordinary, I want to believe so.

I was quite the thinker when I was little, I would see every profession that is well presented by an individual and think I'd do it better if I go for it. A little girl who's intelligent with her studies and smart with thinking of what will earn big money when she grows, all that influenced how my dreams changed from time to time and excitedly.

If I have to give count of the dreams I had as a child, my memory will fail me but there are three of those dreams that still sticks till today because of how much I invested in my imaginations of them looking forward to when I'll achieve them. At that time, they seem like I would easily achieve them but life happened to all three.

My first ever childhood dream was to become A Medical Doctor, the smart looking female doctor in her medical attire and giving the best smiles to patients who look happy being treated by her because she is one of the best in the world. Yes, I thought long into the time I have become a pro at treating people all over the world effortlessly.

This was my favourite dream and one I had in me for as long as I can remember until my university days when I had to go for another course because a lot happened that didn't favour me in the dream I had. The plan was study that course and get back on track to study my dream course but as it stands, I'm thinking it's an old story now.

While it's a dream I fantasized so much about, I had other side dreams I was looking forward to achieving too and one of them is, Being A Musician. I've always loved to listen to great musicians growing up thanks to my dad's love for music that birthed mine. I imagined myself singing in great crowds, improving in my singing.

My becoming a musician dream is still on but coming to understand that I don't work fine under pressure or enjoy being a public figure, I've put up a limit to my musician dream. I just want to sound better than I do now in the future and make my voice heard in the most unexpected places bringing smiles to faces with my voice.

And the other dream that I have had since childhood was owning a school that's more than just the regular school we have today. A well equipped school that prepares students for different professions of choice and also trains them to have great hand and brain skills that will fetch huge money alongside their professions.

This dream isn't forgotten yet, I still have it in mind to bring to my reality no matter how long it will take. Dreams are exciting to have and they keep one going even when there are no signs of them coming true. I may not have achieved any of my biggest childhood dreams but they are all part of what made my growing up very exciting.
