Becoming Me: How Growing Up Changed My Life.

Back when I was still young, I used to live without really planning anything, I would eat whenever I wanted, sleep late and most times I wake up feeling tired. To me, it wasn't anything, it was just fun, I was just living my life freely. Then, my interests chanhed all the time, I would want to be a writer this moment, and in the next moment a doctor. I didn’t really stick to anything.

As time goes on and I began to age, I started noticing changes in myself. It wasn’t something big or drastic little things changing and happening slowly. I found myself checking if I turned off the gas, the water and the light before leaving the house, I started caring more about keeping my space clean and organized. I began waking up early, and so on.....

All of my daily habits changed. Instead of staying up late to watch movies or scroll on my phone, I began to enjoy the quiet evenings and do something good/productive. I started journaling my thoughts, taking breaks, appreciating life and all it holds and sleeping better.

Even my interests changed, I became curious about things like personal growth, mental health, and also learning new skills. I found myself reading books, watching educative contents and enjoying deep conversations. I stopped caring much about impressing people or following trends. I just wanted to become a better version of myself.

I noticed that as these changes are happening, my lifestyle changes too, I experience peace was all around me, a lot of noise and disturbing whispers disappeared from my life. Friendships and relationships that are draining me, I kept go of them all, also people who supported me and made me feel safe are those I choose and hang with. I started enjoying cooking for myself, listening to soft music, taking walks and having time alone to think.

And, these changes didn’t just affect what I do, but they changed how I see myself. I no longer pretend to be who others expected me to be, I am me....more calm, more kind, more caring, more patient, more grateful and more thoughtful. Even when I mess up or feel down, I still try to love myself instead of judging.

The truth is, I still have off day, I still get tired, lazy, careless, ungrateful and unmotivated sometimes. But now, I know how to go back to the habits that help me feel like myself. I have learn to grow without losing myself.

Growing up has helped me find me..the real me, and I like who I'm becoming. I have changed my habits, my interests, and how I live my life, and that, I'm grateful for.

All pictures are mine.
