Wise spending

Right from time, a lot of people see those who practise wise spending as being stingy. Yeah, I have been given that accolade several times, and I just smile at them because they actually do not know the amount of money in the account from which the spending is being carried out.

I do not know about others, but I spend mostly on needs, yes, necessities, and not based on trends or trying to please someone. But no lies, I usually engage, once in a blue moon, in spending to please others. At that moment, I also see it as a necessity because it happens once in a blue moon, and that is usually in the case of going out with a lady. Of course, the spending on such an outing could be likened to wasteful spending, but then it has now become a requirement in our modern-day life that once in a while, an outing with a loved one is good for the sake of relationships and keeping memories.

Like I said, I spend wisely, and most of my spending is on things I actually need. It is just sometimes that I spend on wants. There is a man who usually comes around my workplace. Food hawkers, soft drink hawkers, grilled chicken and pork hawkers will pass by, and he will keep mentioning that I should buy something so we can eat. I always respond with a refusal smile. It is not as if buying and eating these things is bad, but there is a need for priority, and that is the necessity I am talking about.

"Kai, you are very disciplined, Kingsleyy!" the man would always say this to me. Whether it is mocking from his mind or applauding me for how wisely I spend my money, I honestly do not know.

One of the things that contributed to my wise spending habit is the background in which I was brought up. My family was not financially buoyant. My siblings and I did not have the privilege of getting lunch money in school or receiving pocket money. Everything was based on "managing," so any money that came into our hands was pushed into necessary things and not spent on just anything.
