Crypto Journey and Web3

Greetings!

My crypto journey didn’t start early like it did for other people who were practically born into it. In fact, I got to know about crypto around the time it became very popular, but I saw everything as extremely difficult. And funny enough, some major parts of it are still difficult for me.

I won’t lie—I could have been completely absent from the whole crypto and Web3 space if I hadn’t been into money-making hunts back then in different WhatsApp groups. I belonged to a lot of them, and even though we were doing the basics, such as investing in Ponzi schemes, other people in the groups would be flaunting their crypto wallets with large amounts of dollars in them. That pushed many of us to get on with apps like Trust Wallet and MetaMask, where we did those funny airdrops that would come with big and questionable amounts of money that couldn’t be withdrawn.

Yes, it was when we joined that we saw what those guys were showing us in their wallets. Even though we knew those amounts written on the airdrops were almost impossible to withdraw—at least in the near future—we still went ahead to keep piling them up in the wallets. That’s how many of our wallets became very “big.” There was a time I had up to $3 billion on my Trust Wallet. Crazy experience!

It was during that money-making hunt that I met a guy who introduced me to a Web2 writing platform called ReadCash. Although the platform is Web2, it still had some good features of Web3. Before then, I had written on the Opera Mini app and was paid, but I stopped because the payment became like air.

So, I went on with the Web2 site. I loved it because it gave us a platform to express ourselves. But then, the platform was built in a way that some people had bigger power and could control things, especially regarding earnings and the taking down of people’s accounts. Guys, I was dealt with a lot on that platform—so much that at a point, I had to pause and check if I was dragging a girlfriend with any of the top members without knowing. Lol.

But in all that, I kept pushing through because I love to write (not just for money🫣), and I was earning crypto too, which was very easy to convert to naira and chop.

From there, I moved to this Web3 platform—Hive.
Before arriving here, I had already mastered the simple basics of crypto, especially how to trade my money. I wasn’t really into crypto for savings, investment, and other aspects until I got to understand how this platform works. That was when I saw the importance of staking and investment.

Again, I haven’t really gone into the deep things of crypto, and I’m not sure if I’m going to tense my brain to learn again. The times I tried to navigate into the deep, my brain almost went off. 😩 I love the basics I understand about Web3 and crypto, and I’m enjoying them. If the need and chance come for me to push further, I would definitely do that.

Lesson for the upcoming ones:
Crypto is good. As you’re earning, save some, stake, and don’t squander everything, because your staking and savings will surely save you in the future.

Also, if you have the strength and time to learn the deep things, go for them. Don’t be lazy like me.

Thanks for reading.
