THE PRESSURE ON DREAMS

Dreams have powers, and to be honest, they give us the motivation to strive for better things, but then again there is something I have come to learn about dreams, and that is the fact that they can easily get lost. Yes they can, remember that time in your life when all you wanted was to be something? Especially during the teen age, but how far with that dream, among everyone who had one dream or another, only about 5% get to actualize it. At a certain point, we all end up giving up on our dreams and that is because of the pressure we tend to face in the process of trying to actualize them.

Perhaps I would have really pursued a career in one of these stem fields if I had someone who was capable of nourishing the wish and dream of a young boy and by now I would have been an astronaut. But then I doubt such would ever happen because at this point in my life, I am struggling to get by the day and because of that I am unable to give my full attention to any high demanding course. I could decide to still go for it and probably work towards it, but at what cost? And just like me, a lot of people have had to give up dreams for one reason or another.

But that is not even the pressure. There are also those who have failed so much in their dreams and goals that the only thing they know is failure and the only way they can now survive is to stop dreaming. Well I have dreamed, I have stopped dreaming, and I am dreaming again. This is all because of the pressure one has to endure when they decide they want to achieve something tangible. As much as dreams are good, if you have the guts to dream, you will need 10 times the balls to pursue that dream, and as terrifying as it sounds, it is the beauty of life because the moment you achieve it, all the pains become memories.
