LIVING THE TEENAGEHOOD

I will never forget my mothers words on my 13th birthday. Teenagehood is all about storms and stress, there are alot of things you will never understand, a lot of things you want to try out, you will be conflicted a lot of the times, your emotions will be everywhere and you might make a lot of mistakes. These words guided me through my teenagehood then and in a way made it easy for me to deal with everything I came across. But most of all, it made me know I could always run to my mum whenever I made a mistake and to date it has guided me.

Today we see a lot of teenagers do things on social media that would make people wonder who on earth trained these ones. You see them participate in trends like their lives depend on it because literally their lives do depend on these things, or should I say they make their lives depend on it. But I don’t think the issue is even social media, I think the issue is the fact that their hearts are searching for what they don’t know and they would take anything that fills it up.

Teenagers are very unstable and thus need somewhere to channel all that energy they can’t handle. This is why it seems social media is the best option, they channel all their time and energy there and it affects them in a lot of ways. Look at some of the great footballers and athletes you see today, they channeled all their energy into what they were doing then and today they are in a better place. If you want to manage a teenger’s social media life, give them something to channel their energy, then give them an illusion of achieving greatness with it and they won’t even have time for the things that happen in social media because they feel they are doing something their lives depend on.

In the past, social media was only Facebook and Friendster. Not like now where there are quite a lot.

Your mother's wise words are what all teenagers need to hear and be guided by, indeed, channelling part of their energy towards another positive skill would be of help to them in this present digital age.

Yeah right, but a lot of parents do not have the time to talk to their teenagers

Teenage stage is like a soft and fresh fish, easy to bend, but once bent to the wrong direction then it will a little hard rectify.
