You Are Not The Man I Use to Know
I ask myself, what changed him? Why did he move this way? Was he always like this?
I do have a bro I always looked up to; he was much older than me, studied outside the country, and I wanted to be like him because I felt he was accomplished. I love the way he talks and how he always takes me out to places he has been. I met some of his foreign friends and loved him.
As time went on, he brought his fiance to our home to introduce her to my parents, and immediately, the lady and I became friends because of how close I was to this bro. He wasn't my biological brother but he stayed with us, and my parents played some role in bringing him up.
Everything was good until I discovered a dark secret about him. The first time this happened was when I was away from home. His fiancée called me, and she told me something that happened, which I found hard to believe.
She claims he has been beating the hell out of her, and they are not even married yet. She came to my parent's place to explain what has been happening; my dad invited them both so they can talk about it. He became very violent and started threatening her right in front of my parents.
My dad got so angry; after a while, everything was settled, and he asked them both to go home and talk about it. On their way home, after driving a little far from our home, he asked her to get out of his car. She refused because they came together; he came down from the car, went to her seat, and pulled her out of the car.
She was crying on the road, and he zoomed off.
The long story short. He stopped visiting us and cut all ties with us. He started cheating on the lady with another woman and got her pregnant; he had to marry the pregnant woman.
The big brother I used to see, whom I used to look up to, changed within months, and he hasn't spoken to me in years.
I am glad that nice lady didn't end up with him. Now she's married with a beautiful baby girl.

It’s a pity he missed out on the beautiful lady like you explained her to be. You can’t change a man’s character, he probably has been like that but you guys never knew. The fact that he cut ties with your family just because of a harmless advice isn’t just good at all. I hope he comes back to his senses one day

Like you said that you like him then and you do look up to him, it will get to a time where you have to forgive him, you know you can’t hold grudges forever

I think there are a lot of factors that must have changed him I can't really tell.

The worst mistake any lady would make is to end up with such type of a man she should thank her Stars he came out open before tying the knot although it's still painful.
I was also very happy that kind lady didn’t end up with him because noooo she deserves better.

He probably grew out of love for her but that doesn't justify or excuse his behavior. Especially letting such an incidence cause a rift between him and your family. He was probably a douchebag in disguise all along.
