Travelling Through Time: A Future Revealed

Time-travelling, whether into the past or future has been a point of discussion in the Sci-fi world. Perhaps, it's because the idea appeals to human desire－to go back to the past and fix some things or to go into the future and take a peek at some things beforehand. The desire in any case could be for an advantage against time, either racing ahead of it, or getting back to it, which remains a possibility yet to be.

Funny enough, I watched a movie this afternoon that had time travel involved. While it didn't lean towards the Sci-fi movies genre, it was a desire to step ahead of time and know the consequences and effects of a desired action, which the character certainly found out through such travel－into the future. I consider that if we have this opportunity, many will take it. We all have some concerns about the future or the past.

Now, the discussion is, if by some chance I get to travel into the future, and that travel experience makes me realise that I was or I'm not remembered in a good light. What would I do in such a case? Would I try to change the future? What would I do towards that? What if that wasn't possible, would I accept the future like that? And what would the feeling be in the end about the travel into the future?

Hopefully, I don't get remembered in such a way. Chuckles. I've mentioned one time on this subject that going into the future isn't really my business. But if need be, like in this case, I wouldn't feel alright about such a situation. I mean, who doesn't want to be remembered in a good light? We can claim we don't care, but as humans, we desire a good name and good approval. As such, it would feel unsettling.

However, rather than trying to alter the fabric of time, and change a future I created myself, why not use the present I have, and recreate a different future? Perhaps, it wouldn't be far from the already seen, but it could mean a lot. A year, two years, five years can be much time to make meaningful change and create another parallel or askew future. By the way, what could be the reason I'm remembered in such a way? I think that's where the efforts begin.

Understanding why I was seen in such a light would give me a direction towards making the needed change. Whatever it is, and whatever right actions I could take in the present, that would be the way to go. What if it's not possible to change such a future? Well, I don't think so. If only I were already living the future, then maybe so. Otherwise, having the advantage of the present and now the knowledge of the future, I can create a change from the present, that reflects later in the future.

So, yes, as long as there's time in the present, I won't be accepting the future that way. Unless I'm comfortable with it which I don't think I'd be. And I don't know if to say I'll regret travelling into the future given that it made me see the way I'll be remembered. Also offering me the opportunity to make a change. Not a move I fancy, but the travel could prove helpful rather than totally regretful.
