It Began With A Number..

I’ve gotten to the point that I don’t need anybody to tell me that my stature and brain are on two different scales. I had even asked how come I got to think the way I think and do the things I do. Taking up certain but daring tasks and at the same time being ready to take up the responsibilities of whatever might be the outcome of the result had been my lifestyle for as long as I could remember.

From the age of sixteen, it started. It was like life was just patiently waiting for me to clock on the sixteenth number to expose me in ways I never knew existed in life.
Gradually it started, taking me out of my comfort zone to begin knocking on the neighborhood’s door while I intrusive my first ever business to them. A lesson teacher who offers to teach maths and English for just two thousand naira per child. Thankfully, it was the Covid era and trusted parents to look for the nearest available space to dump their kids so they could have their time..lol
When we say “Age is nothing but a number” In so many ways these words apply to me.

I remember gathering over 20 pupils and at a time my house became too small to accommodate everyone.
Along the line was when I was admitted and operated on. From the work of a home lesson teacher to becoming a full school teacher who taught from basic one to five on three different subjects and believe me, you wouldn’t want to know the pay😅💔
Soon afterward, switched over to the position of a secretary for a growing interior company. Not long after I began my own small business selling perfume oil, and with that became fortunate enough to work in one of the secretariats closest to me, it was more like a private staff though. Yet, my oil perfume continued and I at a point merged with selling other items like Burks, envelops, and the like.
All this before I gained admission into the university and to continue survival, I started with shoe business, my parents weren't too settled with the idea of it since it wasn't fully my products and that brought about the switch to making peanuts for sale. That was going well until my parents put an end to my working through school by saying “Holy Spirit said shouldn't work, it would distract me”.
As one who came from a religious background, surly statements like that got the final say in any decision-making in my family, and not until after year one in school that I began working again. And right there I vowed never to further my education until I got what it takes to send myself through school because school life isn't in the favor of the good girl nature, in all sincerity, I almost missed it there.

I only took time to list past jobs and businesses before school and most importantly from the age of sixteen. I grew in them all, discovering life in deep ways my kept and innocent thoughts couldn't have fathomed. I always knew I would work and own a company of my own while growing up but what I never knew was that life would become unfortunate for my household to the extent that we were dragged down to the number after zero💔
I didn't take out time to explain how every step, with every work, every human, and every change of environment did to me. In everything, I learned, I cried, laughed, earned, and relearned.

My life took a drastic turn when everything went south for my parents but if there's one perspective life has taught me is never to cage a child. I've heard parents talk and brag with statements like “My child would never struggle in life as I did” and “ My child would experience the good life I never had”.
Beautiful right? Yes, all beautiful words and excellent goals. Every good parent wishes for the best for their kids and that I agree with.
But then so much comes with it and unknowingly some things become mixed up.

Well, I possibly can't bring my head down to my notepad for you to see what it looks like however, the main point is training kids who wouldn't have to be so naive to the world, whereby they would discover life themselves at every step on the way. I too would pour out all the love I have within me on my babies, protecting and caring to the uttermost of my capacity but if there ever be anything you watch out for is the perceptive life through me and that is “Never To Be Ignorant”. No one knows what the happening in the next second and raising children who wouldn't be at a disadvantage is a strong priority for me, especially at a time in this world of ours.
