One last Card: Not Entering 2024 with failed Promises and Debts

I see this new year as a restart of my life, a reboot, and a call to live my life the way I would want to live it and not to start the year with a bad habit. I try to make these corrections while here in 2023 so that I don’t unconsciously carry these habits into 2024.

I had some promises that I had made to my friends and some debt that I had to pay up. The first debt was my bank account; I had to borrow some money to buy call time for my dad when he needed it, and I had no cash on me. The second was to pay @creativepearl for the perfumes I had initially bought from her. I had not paid the money in full; I had only paid a part of it. I didn’t want to carry these things into the new year. Anything concerning 2023 should end in 2023, so we can have all the strength to face 2024.

Talking about promises, I remembered two promises I made to a friend and to my sister, and the time was getting late. The first promise I made was to take my younger sister out to eat goat meat peppersoup. I really wanted to do this, but due to poor planning, I could not figure out a date to make it possible. So I thought if I could not take her out, then why not bring the peppersoup down to her door step? I was able to accomplish this when I went out with my older sister today.

The second promise I made was to a friend of mine who just got married recently. I had told him I would send him a gift—money, of course—for his wedding, but I had not for even 2 weeks after his wedding. I felt bad, and I know my friend; he is not the type that would ask me for what I promised him, even though I don’t give him anything, but I would not want to do that type of thing, and I know the kind of expenses he would have gone through for his wedding. So I sent him the little I could afford at this moment and told him to manage it. He was so glad, and he thanked me so much.

Now there are just a few hours left until the new year! What do you think is left for you to do? Which grudges do you have with someone that you think should settle with the year? Make 2024 a year to start afresh!
