My Run To in Time of Trouble

Who do you run to in times of trouble? Is it your friend? your family or do you have no one, which means you have to solve whatever issue you are facing yourself.

Well, I have someone I run to in my time of trouble—I mean, when I am in real trouble. I have come to understand that humans were not created to work in isolation, and this is why societies or communities are formed. We can pass through the challenges of this life alone because if we try to do so, we are going to meet an inevitable end.

There are times when I face some issue or problem that I believe I can solve; these kinds of problems need me not to ask anyone because I can solve them, and there are times when I try to solve them that I know might just be something I can ask a friend for a favor that will be returned, then I ask friends. There are very few people I can meet to ask for favors from and @kingsleyy is one of them. He is a good friend that always comes through for me when I need help but who is that person that I run to in times of trouble?

My Dad!!

You see, my dad is someone I always run to in time of trouble or if I am facing a challenge I can't solve on my own. I have never taken a personal matter to a friend before, I always take them to my dad and he gives the best advice. Probably that's why I am so close to him.

Growing up, I have seen my dad solve so many issues. Money issues, relationship issues, married couple issues, sibling fight issues, and many more. One thing about my parents is that my dad wasn't always around but we always looked forward to the time he would get home. If I have a fight with my younger siblings, I beat them up. My mom would beat the living hell out of me before hearing my side of the story, so what I would do is I would start writing down everyone's offense, then wait for the master judge to come home and enact justice on everyone. My siblings do the same thing; when Dad comes home, we would all look up to him for a fair judgment, and whatever he says stands.

The point is, I believe he has the solution to all my problems or the answers to my questions. There are many times when my dad and I would have a long conversation over different topics that concern life and he would share so much wisdom with him that I have used in my life and it worked for me.

He isn't just my father; he is also my friend and my mentor and I hope to be an improved version of him someday.

Thanks for reading.

You are your father's son so of course you will become an improved version of him. I admire the bond you both share 👍

A mentor, that got my attention. Not every parent is a mentor to their children.

It's good having a dad you can share your problems with. Most people lack this connection with their dads and it ends up really affecting them in future.

Yeah, I am really grateful to God for blessing me with a father like him. I have seen other people's families, and I am always thankful for what I have.
