Good Morning Hive! - Table Mountain Views and Long Hours!

Good morning Hive.

I took this picture yesterday as I left the docks yesterday after we finished for the day and the contrast of the subject matter had me thinking.

I took the picture because the mountain looked absolutely beautiful in the afternoon light. If you do not recognise this iconic silhouette yet then let me explain: This is Table Mountain in Cape Town.

It is the mountain that can be seen from the main city and central Tourist attraction area in the City though the entire Metro and surrounding area for hundreds of kilometers actually have thousands of amazing places for tourists to travel to and visit.

Cape Town is known to be an amazing tourist destination attracting millions of tourists per year.

So I mentioned something about contrast and irony?

There is such an amazing view of tourist destination with its iconic mountain but in the foreground is the parking lot to for all the workers who are working at the Dry Dock. They park there for 12 hours at a time and start 7am and leave at 7pm.

And they hardly ever look up at the mountain. I can see that the people around me were surprised that I was stopping to take a photograph.

Do they not see the beauty? Do they take it for granted? Or maybe it just hold very little value and meaning to them?

Maybe they are looking at me and making up their own minds as to why I took that picture. Maybe they think that I am a foreigner but all I wanted to do was capture that image of beauty for the moment that it was. Nothing more and nothing less.

I have been on the brink of death and I can tell you that you have to appreciate being alive and appreciate the views you see in the moments you do. You are not going to see the exact same mountain again.

The mountain will be there but that moment was mine. The way the mountain stood, the greenery from the late Winter and Spring time rains. The cast of the afternoon shadow as the sun gets ready to set. The patterning of the clouds.

This is unique.

Meanwhile, there is this start of industrialism. 30+ cars in the picture parked on a gravel parking area between a dock road that is choked by container trucks and a railway that only carries freight transportation carriages.

There are those who have spend thousands of dollars and those that work and toil hard for 12 hours a day for a handful of dollars both sharing the same view. The irony that only those that spent a lot of money are looking at the beauty of the mountain and reflecting on that.

The irony that people do not take an ordinary moment of the day to take a deep breath of fresh air. One day this too might become a luxury commodity! I hope not!

I hope with all my heart that we can turn this world around from the trend that it is in and leave something behind that will last for thousands of years.

Only time will tell but it starts with you, the reader of this post. You cannot know how your small actions will affect the world. It is a multiplicative action and result that will leave echoes across the world for hundreds of years after your passing.

So we should do the right thing. That and appreciate the moment we are living in.

Thank you for reading this post.

I wish you health, wealth and happiness.

The picture above was taken by me after work with my Samsung phone.

Cheers!

Absolutely. Time is flowing. But away. And through us. We can only live with what we catch. You got that mountain. It is really nice to see someone spiritual and also aware at the same time and about the workers, there should be at least someone appreciate the view. Hopefully 🙏

You are absolutely right. We should learn to appreciate the good things we see around us. When we don't do this we often take life for granted and don't live our lives the way we should. The sad thing is that the good things we fail to appreciate today because we think they are insignificant may be of great importance to us tomorrow when we lose them.

Thanks for your inspirational writeup. Have a good day.

@zakludick...

Powerful message... deep in thought for sure. But you are right. Much like every moment we are alive. That exact moment will never happen again. The way my life has always been; of course dealing with Multiple sclerosis is always at the forefront of every decision. I have learned to appreciate every little thing! Sure... we get older. Things will change as they do. But wouldn't it be a shame, if you were to never be able to walk on that beach again? Hold the fragrant flower you worked so hard to care for... or in this case... view that mighty mountain range? I see what you are trying to say here... the grandkids would, of course, say, "I smell what you are stepping in". Still not sure what that means LOL.

Yeah... you said it better. You should get that in a book someday. Loved this post, brother! Have a great weekend...

Love and light...
