Making Boaty Things Happen
Hail to the Hive!
Well we did it. It’s actually happening as we have signed contracts, paid for and now picked up a second boat as a big project to do up, rennovate and hopefully move onto in the 9 hopefully not too distant) future.
The first run was a short run to Foxton Locks ,where we currently have Narrowboat Cygnet, to see if there are any immediate issues.
So we set off on a rather pleasant, if a little chilly, 3 hour cruise to test her hout before the big move to Fazeley junction which will be a good 4 or 5 days journey.
I roped in the assistance of my good friend Elliot and along with @millycf1976 ( The Admiral of the Fleet) we set off on our maiden voyage on Second Chance.
And according to the route planner its only 6 miles, less than 3 hours and no locks. Perfect for a test run!
And this section has awesome scenery so good for a few pics 😉.
As Narrowboat Second chance is 50ft in length, which is 20ft longer than Narrowboat Cygnet, she took a biy of getting used to and I was especially nervous taking her out of the marina and onto the cut. I felt like all eyes were upon me, but slowly slowly I got used to the differences and learned how to handle her. Elliot also did a great job when he assisted me from time to time.
We captured the day in Vlog format also and I invite you to take a peek and get a feel of what the experience of picking up the new boat was like, and feel my nerves and watch the scenery drift past.

Holy shit what an adventure!
I was pretty excited our captain purchased a new boat and it is time to start racing again. Nothing compared to the immersive life on a boat like you.
This will be an adventure to follow.
All boats are fun mate, just in fifferent ways :)

Blimey, that's a lot of boat! I've only driven (?) a tiny Shetland ... not even 20 feet, I think, hard to remember now. By accident, I took her down to the bay (I thought I was heading the other way, upriver towards Sandwich), it got quite choppy, but I turned her round and we got home safely.
Love Foxton Locks, I haven't been further south on the canal, it looks beautiful.
