The Bill For Kindness

In the morning , I saw this really pretty lady with a serious face and as we walked past each other, I stopped her to tell her how pretty she was. Immediately she heard those words, her face just lit up and I must say it was definitely one of the prettiest smiles I’ve seen in a while.

Coincidentally, I later saw her in the evening in the same vicinity and she rather approached me with a wide smile and asked if she could hug me. She looked too happy to be turned down so I just said “sure” and opened my arms.

I later raised my eyebrows and smiled to show her that I’m expecting an explanation for her actions. She apologized for not telling me earlier on and then began telling me how her day was.

So when I saw her in the morning with her straight face, she was going for an interview and was really scared. It wasn’t that she didn’t know what the job was about, she just wasn’t confident. And that was because she had heard of the other applicants and how knowledgeable they are.

But right after I told her she was pretty, she couldn’t stop smiling and someway somehow, she went for the interview with a wide smile on her face. And even before she left, she was told that she had a bonus and an upper hand for smiling throughout the interview since the job was about customer service. Long story short, she was starting work next week and was excited about it.

I literally started screaming in excitement as if we’ve been friends for years meanwhile I just met her today. I was so happy for her. We exchanged contacts and promised to talk later.

As I walked away, I couldn’t stop smiling. And all I could think of was the fact that I just got a random thought to compliment her and that compliment actually made her day. And the coolest part? I didn’t lose anything. Not a dollar, not my dignity, nothing at all.

This is what they mean when they say kindness costs nothing but could mean everything for someone. And sometimes when we talk about kindness, people only think of money, help and all that. But just a simple smile, a kind compliment and gentle wave could actually go a long way to make someone’s day while taking nothing from you.

Your last statement is right, most people are going through a lot on the inside, they just need that little show of love and kindness to brighten their day

People need others to understand them but some don't because they don't care or put themselves in that person shoes.

That's very beautiful. An amazing piece from you M'lady. I like he fact that things turned out this way. It warms my heart knowing a simple, kind gesture made her day brighter than she ever thought or imagined. We done.

Kindness really does not cost much. Most times, kindness is attributed to monetary help whereas it could be expressed in a million other ways. Thank you Abenad for being a huge factor in the success of that lady’s interview. You’re a gem 💎

You indeed have a big heart ❤️. We need more of your type in today's world. Because people are actually going through a lot. And some people are not after money actually, all they need is a word. You just made someone day. I most say you are an angel 😊. Thanks for sharing.
