It is another entry of mine on my star appliance, and as I promised to bring in another one, that is exactly what I am about to do.

My standing fan is another appliance at home that I cannot joke with. We all know the importance of a fan, especially in countries like Nigeria where it feels as though the ozone layer has disappeared, and we know how intense it becomes during the dry season. The level of heat here is always something else, and personally I do not like heat at all, so my fan is always on at all times. Even in the rainy season, my fan remains on.

I bought the fan back in my higher institution days, and since then it has been serving its purpose very well. I remember once when it developed a fault, so I took it to the technician, and in just a day it was fixed. I took it back home, and it was working again.

An electric fan is one appliance I cannot do without. About four months ago, I came back from work on a hot sunny day. Immediately I entered the room, the first thing I reached for was my fan because it was so hot. After turning on the switch, it was not responding. I tried all I could, but there was no way, and I was not happy. I was out of cash to visit the technician, so I thought of what to do. Immediately, an idea came to my mind. Since the blade was not turning, I decided to lubricate the rod that holds the blade. I got some engine oil, used a syringe to fill it, and then put it on the rod before turning the blade. It became a bit free, and I knew the fan needed lubrication.

I plugged the fan into the socket again, and it started turning. I was so happy, and that is why a fan is one of my star appliances.

Es otra de mis entradas sobre mi electrodoméstico estrella, y como prometí traer otra, eso es exactamente lo que estoy a punto de hacer.

Mi ventilador de pie es otro aparato en casa con el que no puedo bromear. Todos conocemos la importancia de un ventilador, especialmente en países como Nigeria, donde parece que la capa de ozono ha desaparecido y sabemos lo intenso que se pone durante la estación seca. El nivel de calor aquí siempre es algo fuera de lo común, y personalmente no me gusta el calor en absoluto, así que mi ventilador siempre está encendido. Incluso en la temporada de lluvias, mi ventilador sigue funcionando.

Compré el ventilador en mis días de educación superior, y desde entonces ha cumplido muy bien su propósito. Recuerdo una vez que se averió, así que lo llevé al técnico y en solo un día estaba reparado. Lo llevé de nuevo a casa y volvió a funcionar.

Un ventilador eléctrico es un aparato del que no puedo prescindir. Hace unos cuatro meses, regresé del trabajo en un día caluroso y soleado. Inmediatamente al entrar en la habitación, lo primero que busqué fue mi ventilador porque hacía mucho calor. Después de encender el interruptor, no respondía. Hice todo lo que pude, pero no hubo manera, y no estaba contento. No tenía dinero para ir al técnico, así que pensé en qué hacer. De inmediato, se me ocurrió una idea. Como las aspas no giraban, decidí lubricar la varilla que las sostiene. Conseguí un poco de aceite de motor, lo puse en una jeringa y lo apliqué en la varilla antes de girar las aspas. Se movieron un poco más libremente, y supe que el ventilador necesitaba lubricación.

Volví a enchufar el ventilador a la toma de corriente y empezó a girar. Estaba tan feliz, y por eso un ventilador es uno de mis electrodomésticos estrella.
